Cost too much to ship, and they will have to pay value tax on items ship when they pick up from the Post office.

I learned the tax/duty lesson this past Christmas ouch! Depending on the item the taxes and duty may not be worth it and then there is the issue of the package actually making it to your loved one. When my SO went to claim his package (everything worked out) there was a guy who was suppose to receive four cell phones -- he got four empty boxes.

I hope that it works out.

3 day international shipping does not mean it reaches the recipient in JA in 3 days - It could take weeks / months - what are you trying to ship?

Just all the documents. That's scary I'm super paranoid.

What documents? You can email all of the documnets as a attachments, and he can print them off at an internet cafe.

So the Embassy will take a scanned copy of a birth certificate????

The embassy will already have what you have sent into USCIS, so why are you now sending a BR, is this for the 134 documents. Yes, the embassy will take a copy.

To be clear about how and what mail process are available for use to JA from the US.

1. If you are sending regular mail or minimum amount of documents to Jamaica, then the normal posting system will work.

2. If you need to send original documents quickly, the it's FEDEX, or UPS. They are costly, it doesn't matter if the receiver has a house number or not. UPS, or FEDEX will call and inform the receiver that they have a package.

3. If you are sending copies of everything that you have sent to USCIS, you can scan and send those via email. The receiver can print from an internet cafe.

4. Note, all original documents should have been sent to USCIS, so if you are sending anything to the embassy, most likely it will be a copy of what they already have.

5. Sending packages to Jamaica via the USPS, can be costly, also the time frame for receiving that package is based on the Jamaican postal system not the US postal system.

6. If you send a package via USPS, you can track it, but again all will depend

I have used USPS International Express for 2 years and never once had a problem. The package gets there in 6 business days and I am able to track it on-line.

I have sent gifts, cards, pictures, photo albums, music, a CD walkman and many, many documents!!

My husband has never been charged a duty by his post office for anything I have shipped this way.

I know other people have had problems, but I just sent him a copy of our I-130 package this way on Monday and I have faith by next Monday it will reach.

Much less expensive than FedEx :thumbs:http://www.usps.com/prices/express-mail-prices.htm
