Hello VJ members,

I have written to both of my State's Senators regarding our case. Our case has been in AP (Administrative Process)for five months now, and each time we have send in an email for an update, we have received the same response from them, word for word: "The Administrative Process is not yet complete. We apologize for the delay, please refrain from sending emails/additional emails we will contact him as soon as the administrative processing is complete and schedule an appointment. Thank you for your understanding".

I am hoping that having my Senators involved and asking for answers or updates from the US Embassy in Lagos, Nigeria might be a positive step. It beats sitting round and waiting. At this point, maybe they can get an answer since we are not so successful. It would be nice to know, as to why we are still in AP after five months?

Many Africans/Nigerians are placed on AP and it seems for much longer period than other regions.

VJ members, here are my questions to you and your input would be appreciated: Has anyone received a response from US officials after emailing or writing to them? if so, has anyone's case received the appropriate attention from the Embassy in question due to the correspondence with the officials? did it result in obtaining answers to questions. :bonk: Was it helpful in resolving issues within their case in anyway?

I just had to do something and I pray for answers. Your response is appreciated. Thanks!

I think I'm about to email my congressman today..did you try congressman or just senator? I'm just wondering "will contact him as soon as the administrative processing is complete" are they just talking about the USCIS processing, essentially telling you just to wait til they are done, and who is "him" they are referring to..This kinda sounds like a canned responses of sorts..unless they really are looking into it for you..hmm good luck!!

6/2004: started dating

9/2010: engaged!

11/18/2011: NOA1

Reaching out to your senator and congressperson works wonders. A friend filed for his wife and after 6 months of waiting and no response he contacted his congressperson and within weeks there was movement on his application and now she has her interview scheduled. I believe each Senator/Congressperson has a person dedicated to handling immigration queries.

I would recommend calling their office if you don't get a reply to the email. Just a tip, it helps to pick a congressperson who's up for reelection ;-). Good luck on your journey!

Thanks for your reply. "will contact him as soon as the administrative processing is complete" is referring to my fiance. I skipped the congressman and went straight to the Senators. But will also send in an email to the congressman/woman as well. I feel this whole process called AP is outrageous. Thanks for your well wishes. Good luck with your journey too.

CeCe,

Thanks for your response. I am glad to hear that contacting officials worked for your friend. I will call them if I don't hear anything within a week. Also, I will mail a hard copy to their office to assure that someone will read my letter. I figured an email plus a letter will surely get someone's attention. I will look into the congressperson as well that is a great idea. I hope to get a response and some answers. I will keep you updated. Thanks again for your thoughts and reply. Blessings and best of luck with your journey as well.

Sorry to hear about your situation. My heart goes out to you. On the 30th of this month it will be 5 months for us. I am not waiting anymore to contact the officials. I feel there is no reason for this delay. Our backgrounds are clear and all the paperwork and proofs were in order. I stand by what I believe, "WE" should be granted the visa. Therefore, I will get them involved. They work for us the US Citizens.

I am a tax payer as you are I assume, hence, if we need them to assist us they should. I don't feel I contacted my Senators so soon. It has been hell not getting a decent response from the Nigerian US Embassy.

I pray you receive some answers and be over with your AP soon. Stay in touch and please let me know how things turn out for you. I will keep you in my prayers. Best of luck.

I contacted my local Congressman after our case had been in AP for 5 months. They did respond about a week later saying they were going to contact the embassy in London and see what the problem was. About 2 weeks later (roughly) they(Congressmen's office) sent me an email saying that our case was in AP and we just need to wait. Well, I had told them from the beginning that our case was in AP so they weren't telling me anything I didn't already know! So basically in my case it was not helpful. I think it is helpful for those who are in the pre interview phase but once you get put in AP you are stuck in a void that nobody can help you with. It takes them ages to run the name checks and if your fiance has a common name it can take months. We are almost at the 7 month mark and I hope you hear something soon and do not have to wait much longer.

Senators will not and can not interfere with AP.

I have worked with Pat Leahy and his office on severl immigration itmes and two cases (not mine) and they were extremely knowledgable and helpful but AP is something they do not go near. If there is some sort of snafu or they have just lost your case behind a desk or something, they can defitely rattle some cages and get something done. If it is an AP situation you just have to wait.

A response on a petition pendng at USCIS is not AP. The OPs case has been passed through USCIS to the consulate, the consulate is doing AP on the case. Nothing they can do.

Well it is ok. This whole visa process could get confusing at times. CeCe it is ok. Yes we have passed all that and we are at Embassy level now. Still on AP. I have contacted my Congressman's Office and they are going to look into our case. SO no matter who comes to help, it is welcomed at this point. Senator or Congressman or Superman...I will take it!
