A tourist visa will work fine but the American embassy sent her a a letter for that interview and she should show this letter to the Polish embassy in Minsk. She also needs to let the Poles at the embassy know that if she screw her around she will call the US embassy in Warsaw ASAP and let them know what's going on. In fact she should do that now for the fact the Poles should have given her a visa while she was at the embassy the first time. That letter your wife/gf/whatever from the US embassy in regards to the interview is worth gold in regards to her getting that visa through the Polish embassy in Minsk.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

The Travel agency will probably be the path of least resistance. The US Embassy doesn't care how she enters Poland.

Lets not forget we are dealing with Meat Heads at the Warsaw and the Polish Embassy and that both places are completely surrounded by armed guards to deal with people who argue with the workers in the Windows at the consulates.

Problem is even if she called the US Embassy in Warsaw... and they do pick up...you get the same type of Meat Head on the phone as you do when you go to the Polish Consulate, a Pole hourly worker who will tell you "we have given you everything you need", "tell the Polish Consulate to call us if they have a problem." They don't tell you who to speak with or what number to dial though.

Guess what... they don't give a diddle. Sometimes they don't send the letter via mail from Warsaw they email it, and the girls in the window at Polish Consulate want "official letter" with the envelope and the seal. Result no VISA with emailed appointment letter.

Then it takes Warsaw 8 days to respond with email.. "we sent the letter by mail", but it will be postmarked a week before the VISA interview and it takes 10 days to process a VISA at the Polish Consulate and they won't take the documents until they are all neatly in the pile in advance.

Did I mention they were all Meat Heads? :bonk:

So what do you do in this case,

1. Go with travel agent... bar far the best solution

2. Reschedule in June... good luck with that one its the busiest month of their travel year at Polish Consulate.

3. Try to go online at Polish Consulate and set up Apt but this is dodgy cause it might take 10 days or more, and

you need 10 days after the window appointment for them to process VISA.

4. Call DOS IG and ask them to help transfer the case to Moscow the no VISA is needed. It will take 6 weeks or more to get new interview..but if for any reason the VISA is not issued... she can get back to Moscow again for any additional evidence, documents etc. *You will have to do physical again in Moscow or take Physical from Minsk to Moscow appointment with later or next day appointment with Moscow physician. If they take Minsk physical at interview fine, if not return next day with it to complete processing.

5. Get EU VISA from another consulate in Minsk, try Germany they might deny but it will be fast process. book train tickets and hotels to Germany through Poland and get the hotels to send you faxed confirmation of the arrangements. Bring all the copies with filled out VISA forms.

Good Luck

I would say apply for a tourist visa ASAP, and say nothing about the interview. My ex did the same, and got a visa without a problem. As was posted above, the Polish authorities do not care that she is in Poland for a visa interview - so threatening them is likely to backfire, since the Embassy could care less if she shows or not.
