Hey all,

I am a little confused about the documents that are my wife is required to take to the consulate for her CR1 interview on the 26th. In the interview appointment letter, it says :

IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION Scanned received. Original must be presented.
IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART II Scanned received. Original must be presented.
PASSPORT Required document has been received.
BIRTH CERTIFICATE Scanned received. Original must be presented.
ADOPTION Not Needed
MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE Scanned received. Original must be presented.
MARRIAGE TERMINATION Not Needed
COURT RECORDS Not Needed
FINANCIAL EVIDENCE Scanned received. Original must be presented.
CUSTODY PAPERS Not Needed
MILITARY RECORDS Not Needed
CANADA POLICE CERTIFICATE Required document has been received.
FEE PAYMENT Payment Received.
PHOTOGRAPH Scanned received. Original must be presented.
PETITIONER MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE Not Needed
PETITIONER BIRTH CERTIFICATE Not Needed
PASSPORT POLICE CERTIFICATE Required document has been received.

What do they mean by IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION and IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART II ? Do they mean DS-3032? DS-260?

And why do they say "Required document has been received" and not "Scanned received. Original must be presented." for the police certificate and passport when in reality it was scanned/emailed to them?

I'm so confused.

TIA.

The Immigrant Visa Application is the DS-230 (part 1 and 2). But in your case, you filled out the DS-260, so make sure you bring the confirmation page. Also, Montreal doesn't seem to be acquainted with the new online forms yet, so I would suggest bringing a copy of the DS-230 filled out. I've read a lot of reviews where they all had to fill out a DS-230 when they got to the Consulate. You can save yourself some time by pre-filling it out before you go.

And not sure about the police certificates why it says that. You'd still have to bring your police certificate as you have to hand that in at the interview along with the rest of the IV package.

Thanks for the reply.

So basically I print out the DS-260, DS-260 confirmation page, and manually fill out the DS-230 because Montreal is not up to par on online forms..gotcha.

Everything that I scanned and sent via email for the IV package is required for the interview.. correct?

Also, do you think about 60 photographs taken in a period of 20 months, about 1.5 years of skype logs and printouts airline tickets to bahamas and las vegas is enough for proof along with the marriage certificate?

Don't guess, it is. If you look at the DS-230 and the DS-260, it says Application for Immigrant Visa at the top. That's the name of the form.

And you don't scan the DS-260; you fill it out online.

Remember, the DS-260 is relatively new (it only came out last October). NVC probably hasn't fixed the codes for what it should say on the interview package. Like I said in my last post, make sure you bring both the confirmation page that you submitted the DS-260 as well as a pre-filled copy of the DS-230.

Another question : I moved about a week before we got the email with the interview date.. and so all my documents such as i-864, DS260/230, etc have my old address on them. Would that cause a problem? I didnt move that far.. from apartment #520 to right next door.. apartment #522. Both apartments share a wall :P

TIA

Wow, you moved far! :P Um, just make sure you bring an updated DS-230 with you to the interview with your new address. At the interview, mention that you moved and they'll tell you if any forms need to be updated.

That's what I thought. I'll tell my wife to ask the interviewer.

Thanks :)

One final question.. hopefully :P

What the heck do I have to do with DHL? I chose a pick-up location while setting up my wife's interview date, but is there anything else need to be done? My wife has to take a prepaid expresspost envelope to the interview? or some sort of DHL envelope?

<-- confused.. but more nervous than confused since I dont want anything to go wrong :D

If you already signed up for a DHL location, then you have nothing else to do! And no, don't bring any prepaid envelope. Montreal ships your visa and passport back free of charge.

:) Better said then done.

Just an FYI, if the DHL pick up location is not convenient for you then you have an option to have DHL deliver it directly to your address (within Canada) for a cost (ofcourse). The information can be found here or after your interview (on a badly photocopied page).

June 2003 - Met online

July 2004 - Met in person (in Texas), then travelled back and forth for the next couple of years

Hmm...I live in North York as well. There's a pick up location in Markham (30 Micro Ct, Markham, ON L3R 5N1) This might be closer for her.

Yea we saw that location and did notice that it's closer by about 5 km but the Brampton location was more convinient for her. Did you get your passport back yet? We are planning her entry in US no May 8th and hopefully that's enough time for her to get her passport back after her interview on 26th (which is 8 business days)
