April 2011 (USCIS) Filers

Hi everyone earlier today I received my NOA 2 email wow I am so shocked I never imagined it would happen so fast! It's still not over yet since I didn't prepare for it to happen so fast now I have to get on my reading for NVC processes I know how hard it is to not be with our spouses I can vouch that there is a happy ending to this process God Speed

Don't get too excited because most lilkely this is not your NOA2... It is your NOA1.

The first NOA1 you would have received would have been a receipt just showing that they have cashed your check and show the amount that you paid. The second NOA1 that you received is the more detailed receipt that describes in detail how the process works.

Check where it says "Notice Type" on your I-797C and beside that you will see that they say "Receipt" and "Receipt Notice". The second paragraph at the bottom of your 2nd receipt you received will say "This notice does not grant and immigration status or benefit. It is not even evidence that this case is still pending. It only shows that the application or petition was filed on the date shown." I also received two and it threw me off a bit.

Basically your case has been received and paid for and now the 5 month wait begins. :-(

I have not received a touch or anything as of today 11:16 PM EST.

No RFE's yet either.

It will be one month at USICS May 6th.

this is my whole e-mail. I called and checked online and they said i was approved. I didn't know they can send out two different NOA1s wow that is just messing with someones hope. Hmmm. Haiti...I wonder if there is a diffrent process going on due to that earthquake not too long ago.

There has to be something of this nature, otherwise I better be seeing my NOA2 soon.

there is but the petitioner have to be persistent and show prove that the beneficiary was affected for one to be in that category. It's on the USCIS Website. I tried to ask questions about it here on VJ but instead i got my head almost ripped off. So i called my Senators office and gave them all the information they asked and USCIS did their part which i was told would take no less then 60 days. So that's why i'm shocked.

So I am guessing you did prove this then so they could expedite this process?

I would imagine that earthquake in Haiti would certainly fall under "humanitarin grounds" for an expedite so long as the petitioner sufficiently proved why their file fell into this category.

As for "almost getting your head ripped off," I have noticed that there seems to be a real sore spot when it comes to Haitian beneficiaries and expedited cases. I can only speculate as to why that is. It could simply be waiting taking its toll on some and it could also have something to do with the fact the VSC got tasked with handling all TPS applications from Haitians late last year which resulted in some filers through that center having to wait longer than usual (some of the filers who were caught up in that may have been lashing out). Again, just speculation on my part.

My husband Lost our home, his job and needs surgery for his back. Yes I understand trust me, i know the pain of being far from our spouse. I just want to share with everyone that there is Hope and I am not going anywhere i will still support and try to answer all the questions i can.

Oh Lord! I understand the expedite as I have a friend (a nurse) that went down with a church group to help after the earthquake. He brought back pictures and it was just jaw dropping. Nothing the news and media reported could touch this.

I hope NVC and the interview goes even faster for you than USCIS. No person should have to go thru what is happening down there, it's just downright sad as they were in bad shape before that earthquake hit.

When I found this site it was a life saver!!!! I had made multiple trips to immigration,always to be given not quite accurate information. Keep your spirits high.....it is a very long process. Follow the shortcut guide, and when you get ready to submit the DS-230 packet go to the website for the consulate in India (I did the Mumbai Consulate)....their are a few extras you need in your packet to submit also that are not in the shortcut guide. This will save you a RFF.

According to this guide, you are to find out if your country is "Standard Processing or Appointment Processing". When I called the NVC, the lady told me she did not know what I was talking about?

Does anyone know which process Nepal is?
