Ok so we are still waiting for my husband's visa to come in the mail. We've been waiting since october or 2010, they have his passport and still no visa . . . my question is, can they reject his visa after they took his passport and said it would be coming in the mail/DHL ? and what do we do now, being that he is in AP for 6 months?

Once the AP is complete, if they issue the visa, they will return the passport with the visa affixed inside. If they do not approve the visa, they will return the passport with a refusal notice.

Yes, it is possible for the visa to be denied.

Any idea why he is in AP? Ie is it name/ security checks or checking into the bonafides of your marriage?

Have you gotten hold of anyone in the DOS to ask about the AP? Or called the embassy to inquiry about it? 6 months is a long time to be patient. I would have gotten hold of my congressman or senator for an official inquiry.

Let us know if you hear anything!

yes we contacted the embassy many times before all of the recent events in Egypt, and we would get the same response of additional processing.

I have contacted my congressman, the senator, NVC, DOS, and a few other people but we havent heard yet from all of them and who ever did reply just said that he is under additional processing . . . I've run out of ideas and ways of getting more information, I'm beginning to think he isn't gonna get it :(

I have no idea, NOBODY is giving us any direct answer, they just say there is additional processing . . .

The congressman also got the same response, additional processing and they will not be able to give us a time frame. However, the rest of my contacts was in writing, except for the embassy and NVC. But they also said it is AP.

Then no visa has been granted. Until it's in your hands, the decision to issue or deny has not yet been made.
