Hello all. My non-English speaking fiance will be arriving alone at Los Angeles on her K-1 visa. What can she expect to happen? I am worried about the language barrier if an issue arise since I am not accompanying her on trip here.

Yes, I read all the reviews for LAX POE. Most of the examples, the k-1 person were asked some sort of "interview" question before their passport was stamped. That is why I was wondering if my fiance will be assigned an appropriate language translator?

I came through the LAX POE with my then fiancee and it was easy. The CBP officer had sponsored her spouse on a K1 so she was well versed in the process.

yeah I'm 100% it would be easy too if I was accompanying her from original departure. unfortunately i will not see her until she passes LAX customs.

Therefore I am trying to get a better picture of what she can expect, traveling ALONE and can NOT speak/understand english.

Preferably from someone with actual experience (see criteria above) and not hypothesis :S

kkthx

My suggestion is to prepare a sheet of paper for her to carry that explains her situation so that she can use that (show it to a gate agent for example) if she finds herself unable to communicate with anyone once she deplanes. That is what my ex and I did for her mom when she entered the US and was not an English speaker.

If possible have her buddy up with a person on the flight that can speak her language to lessen the stress.
