Hello,

I was hoping the wonderful VJ's who may have gone through the Pkt 3 procedures review my list below to see if I am following the right proceedure in order to get the interview date arranged: the package comprises of 4 sections

1.instructions for registering on line at sites below

2. Documents required for Immigration and K visa applications (mentions 5 photographs required, 3 for medical exam, 2 for US consulate for Visa interview)

3. photograph requirements (mentions 2 required)

4. Medical examinations for immigrant and K VISA applications

1. registered at http://canada.usvisa-info.com to get my DHL location where I will need to send the required documents

2. visited http://montreal.usconsulate.gov to view, and print out the required forms, the list reads:

  • DS-230 (do I mail this or send the electronic version only?)
  • checklist (which indicates this is to be brought to the interview)
  • photographs (mentions 2 on for the consulate)
  • copy of biographic passport page, should I present all the pages of my passport again? I believe they would have all the pages from the original 129F petition, but better safe than sorry?
  • DS-156 (2 copies) do I send both?
  • DS- 156K (1 copy)
  • DS- 160
  • confirmation receipt

Do I at this time, also send them everything they mentioned in the Documents required for Immigration and K visa Application section 2.

  • Passport (biographical information page) only?
  • Birth certificate (long form)
  • Police certificates, should be easy not a criminal of any kind, phew
  • Evidence of Domicile (petitioner)
  • Affidavit of support (petitioner)
  • Evidence of support (Petitioner)
  • Intent to Marry Letter (from both Petitioner and beneficiary)

sorry this is so darn lengthy but this package is a bit confusing, any clarification you could provide would be most helpful

This should be moved to the Canada section because it is specific to the country/embassy procedures.

You mentioned sending the passport pictures with packet 3 as well. Do not send them, take them to the interview with you along with all the other supporting documents. As Inky said. Just send the signed checklist after you fill it out. And the DS-156, DS156K, DS-160 and a copy of the DS-230 that you have sent electronically.

Sorry for the delay....You check off the things that you will be taking to the interview...such as criminal record check and I-134 and so on...only the things that apply to you. You will pay when you book the interview...After packet 3 is logged you can book your interview and pay at that time. So in about a week after Montreal receives your packet 3 start calling DOS to see if it has been logged.

I noticed you had your interview in April, how did it go? where was your interview?

Sorry but I am confused about this check list thingy- Inky said I have to send in the check list with all the other requested forms, do I still do that even though I dont' know if I have an interview yet?

Thanks again for your help...I wish there was someone I could talk to at the US consulate to help with this...

All you send is the the forms that are requested by the consulate....the DS-156, DS156K, DS-160 and a copy of the DS-230 that you have sent electronically. You also send with those forms, the checklist that you printed. In each thing that applies to you, such as the criminal record check, the passport photos, the I-134 put an X beside then sign and date the bottom. You DO NOT send the things that are checked on the checklist, that is just to show Montreal that you will have them for the interview. So just send the forms above and the signed checklist. Then gather all the things on the checklist to take to Montreal for your interview. The main thing right now is to get the packet 3 sent back so they can get it logged.

My interview is in 3 weeks...in Montreal.

** Topic is US Embassy/Consulate related but may be more appropriate (due to region-specifics) in the Canada Regional Discussion forum (rather than K-1 Proc); moving thread there.

thanks so much Inky and JeannieL for this, so I don't have to check off each item on the check list, just sign it? and at what point do I have to pay?

As JeannieL said, once your Packet 3 is logged you can schedule your appointment. Lately, it's been taking about 7-10 business days to get DOS's permission to schedule from the moment Montreal receives your Packet 3. You can then start calling them every other day to ask if you are eligible to schedule. Just remember that even if you consider the appointments available are too late or inconvenient, you better just book it and reschedule later hoping for an earlier one. That's what most who have an interview in April did. Back when we booked there were only July ones available and of a sudden, about 15 appointments in April got available.

You can either pay when you schedule your appointment online (credit card) or at the consulate on the day of your interview (cash only). Fees are 350 $ USD.

If you want to skip the online payment, you choose "Permanently Immigrate (Ready to schedule)" option and it will skip it. Just remember then you will have to pay in cash (USD) on the day of your interview.

Good luck!
