Timeline

We had earlier sent in with the I-130, the court certified document of divorce. Are we also required to have a court certified document for the DS-230? Or is a photocopy adequate?

27.Mar.2011 DS-230 sent

28.Mar.2011 I-864 sent

04.Apr.2011 DS-230/I-864 rec'd at NVC

17.Apr.2011 NVC inquiry--DS-260 requested & sent online

18.Apr.2011 DS-260 accepted at NVC

26.Apr.2011 NVC inquiry, original document requested

28.Apr.2011 NVC document sent

13.May.2011 NVC Case completed/Interview Date assigned

29.Jun.2011 DOS Interview--Approved!

alas - a photocopy showing the stamp or seal was all that was required on initial I-130 submittal.

You have SMALL CHANCE to have the CASEFILE DEBUNDLED, and some adjudicator actually PULL the certified divorce decree OUT, put it in the DS-230 set -

but

you must call, beg for it, at the NVC Hotline.

CAVEAT - if this is the USC divorce document, it's not required at NVC - only the foreign spouse.

Worst Case Scenario? Send another certified divorce decree.

You should have sent in a copy of the divorce document in with the I-130.

The certified document is to be sent in with the DS-230.

The chance that a note was made that USCIS has the certified document is probably low. The NVC may not even realize they have it now when the case was transferred to them. You can call the NVC and request someone search your physical file for it or you can send in a duplicate certified document.
