friends, i'm so frustrated now that we're stuck at nvc, my papers are pending for almost 6months already.. i'm almost left behind. when we're calling them they will say that it depends on the amount of applicant but we cant ask them "why those who applied before me were done already".. we have our attorney and it seems like all we can do is wait, cause he cant do something bout it according to him! how pathetic! to my vj friends-is there any way we can make them touch our papers please tell me? how long will it take before they send it to manila embassy? i miss my hubby so much.. :((

What you are saying isn't what your timeline shows. You only did your I-864 in February. How do you get that you are at NVC for 6 months? Maybe you were there and things were delayed getting to you (Follow lotos links for fast processing). Once NVC has all the documents they usually only take about 30 days to process but could be a bit longer.

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

yes thats right, but nvc lost our form i-864 from last 6months thats why we send it back this february, i think they should give us some credit for that delay-we're not the reason why it was lost but them..

how common is it for NVC to lose documents? I'm super scared to send my original marriage certificate because it's the only one we have...

our lawyer send all documents 6months ago and nvc only noticed that our form i-864 is missing this feb.. is that mean we have to wait 4months again before they review our papers.. that's so sad..

I'm super scared to send my original marriage certificate because it's the only one we have...- i have no idea too, that's why im sharing my experience for VJ members to know.. (do you really have to send the original marriage cert at nvc? that's too risky, is a copy not allowed? i dont know that too cause our lawyer is the one who send all papers and i can send him copy of original marriage cert anytime cause we can get as much copy as we want at NSO here in our country.)

First off, did the lawyer really send it or did HE lose it. Secondly, why hadn't your lawyer followed up with NVC to find out what the hold-up was? You'd think that after 3 weeks or so of not hearing anything from NVC, the the lawyer or the petitioner would be on the phone with them to find out the status of the case. If you fiance had sent it in himself, maybe he could be sure that it was really sent in, but I wouldn't try a lawyer to care and do it right even if you paid him...oh, wait....you did pay him. Honestly, any lawyer worth his salt should have at least notified you that the paperwork was late from NVC and that followup was needed.

i think our lawyer really sent it 6months ago because he still has a secretary to double check it if all papers are complete before sending it to nvc (i dont think they're irresponsible to forget it), & the second time he sent it last february he did not ask for our details again-meaning he didn't lose our information-cause a lawyer can fill-up our paper anytime on our behalf. and he can get a copy of i-864 by himself alone if ever he's the one who really lost it-he shouldn't wait 4months just to send it again.. we hired a lawyer to make sure our papers will be filled up properly and to lessen some mistake.. of course we pay him.. but he's not informing us on whats happening in every step at 1st because he thought that's why we hired him-to let him handle everything.. but when he gave us wrong time frame i started to search here at VJ what are the steps. now im wondering on my nvc stage-is it 1st come 1st serve.. if that's the situation-now that they already received my form i-864 and 'still pending'.. when we asked them when will they review it, they said it depends on the amount of applicants but my question is im really worried why i was left behind.. can i asked them that directly? im worried too that they might think im disrespectful to ask that, but thats really a big question to me now.. :(

Talean...we are sending originals with a photocopy of each...and we are having all our originals certified as copies so we have several backups...I'll have one here as a backup for my case file i'm keeping and Adil will keep two backups...one for his cse file he's keeping and one to take to the interview...

I hope that helps...

There's not some pool of "waiting time" that gets shifted around to make things "fair" or move you faster because something else happened slowly. They deal with papers as they come in. If they lost something, they lost it. When they get it, they process it. In there mind, they didn't lose it. Your lawyer says he sent it. They say they don't have it. Who KNOWS what actually happened?

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

On of the cool things about NVC, when they have yer casefile -

is that there's a hotline # to call, to get a Human.

When you have speedbumps like this, it's best to call into NVC, get a human, inquire for casefile status.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Hello,

I had the same thing happen. Thanks to VJ I was smart enough to keep calling. They say they lost them 2x according to my lawyer he mailed and fed-ex both. The very first time in November. I went to China in December got back called the NVC. Still no papers he sent them again Fed-ex. Called NVC end of January they said they did not receive my papers. I had insisted from the beginning he file for Electronic Processing. Anyhow it seems the NVC is actually losing the paperwork. Come on now I have seen this happen to someone besides my self. I hope others report the same problem. Come on 2x they lost them? Now we are in EP everything is submitted by email we are finally waiting for final approval. Now over 4 months at the NVC.

Adil is taking all of his originals to the foreign ministry tomorrow to have them all attested they are true certified copies etc...

im not sure how to do it here...check the court system to certify copies ??

You can also try your bank to have them notarized but i'm not sure if they will accepty a notary or not...definitely check before you do that....

I have the original marrige certificate in my possession, he does not!

They gave us two Nikah namas at the time we got married one for each of us so I do have one here...He took his original to NADRA to have it registered and attested etc and to get the certified copy in english...although its taken many attempts to get each section right...but we finally have them all...he is getting evthing attested and photocpied etc and sending me all the certified copies and originals of marriage/police/and his birth certificate..

check your bank or courts to see if they will certify a copy for you...i know that you can go to the bank and have it notarized but i'm not sure if nvc accepts that as there is a difference in notarized and certified....most of the time certified has to come from the source in which you had it originally created....

i'm also sending adil my certified divorce decree...I got two copies created one for the NVC and one for him to take to interview just in case...I'll let you know if i find anything out...

I'm not sure what else you can do...just make some phone calls and check around...maybe someone here on VJ will know how to get certified copies of the original from here....but be sure to check with NVC and embassy to see if they will accept notarization instead of certified before you do anything....it may be they accept notarized...
