Did anyone else try to get your congressman involved for help on the k-1 visa process? Was it successful?? I did and they've sent me letters quickly asking for a few copies of wedding payments etc...and another letter saying they have contacted vermont and are waiting for a reply from them then they would let me know...

I hate to be the bearer of very bad news but you got stuck at the wrong service center at the wrong time. If you look at the "Immigration Timelines" section at the top of the page, then go to "Igor's List" you can sort all of the VJ petitions by service center. You will see that the Vermont Service Center is still stuck in September with just less than half of the petitions from 09/2010 completed. I have contacted USCIS, written e-mails, called many US government contacts in many countries and have received the same answers. I have contacted two Senators and a Congressman all to no avail. I have finally reached over 6 months and my Congressman was able to get an expedite request put in. This process is devastating to many people, to say the least.

Good luck, I hope y'all the best and hope you can get someone to do something before the six month mark, but I sincerely doubt it. Just keep making noise and remember "the squeaky wheel gets the grease".

09/21/10 - I-129F Sent!

09/23/10 - I-129F Received in Dallas, TX

09/28/10 - Text & E-mail NOA1 (It was at 12:44AM, weird) Notification that our case was transferred to VSC.

09/29/10 - Check cashed

09/30/10 - NOA-1 Hard Copy dated Sep. 27, 2010

10/03/10 - TOUCH!

After numerous calls to USCIS, my two Texas Senators and a Congressman, the latter got an "expedite" put through (if you can call a month and a week after ONPT an expedite). Just never let up! Even though mine took way too long, there were people who were a month before me and waited longer because they just sat back and watched. "The squeaky wheel gets the grease!"

03/31/11 - NOA-2!

04/05/11 - Received NOA-2 hard copy.

04/07/11 - NVC Received

04/12/11 - Case left NVC via DHL

04/14/11 - Consulate Received Hard Copy of Case

There really is nothing you can do but wait and try your best to get anyone involved that you can. There is no way to expedite it unless you have a really good reason, but your "good reason" probably isn't good enough for them. I have always said that they should allow you to pay an extra fee for an expedite, it makes the most sense. If they need to hire some extra adjudicators (the people reviewing our cases) then let us pay the extra fees to have the expedite line. The fact is this isn't considered a right but a privilege. Just pray for a miracle my friend, I have seen it happen.
