Is there a faster way to get police certificate?

I'm in Canada now. I heard that to get a police certificate, we need to first get fingerprinting from a local police station and then mail it to Ottawa. It takes about two to three months to get the certificate back. I'm wondering if there is a faster way to get police certificate? Thanks.

well...i am in montreal.....i just went with my 2 boys to the rcmp....had all 3 police certs in a matter of 20 mins....she said if any of us had a record, then we would have needed finger prints.....good luck to you

You need a nationwide name check (also called a background check). You can go to your local RCMP and get it done right away. If you're near Toronto, you can go to the Commissionaires (retired RCMP service org). Some people have gone to their local police and asked for the nationwide check. It may run $25 - $35. But if you have convictions in your past, you may need the more time consumming fingerprint check.

My Beloved is in Ontario and she went to a local police office and had it handed to her while she waited. I think it was around $25.

you only need the fingerprint check if you have a criminal record. If you don't have a record, just the name check is needed, which will take anywhere from a few minutes, to 5 days, depending where you live.
