Hello everyone! Im a little confused with what is going on with my husbands paperwork. I filed in August 2010 and have been waiting this whole time for our NOA2. I contacted my Senator to help find out whats going on and recieved a call from his office yesterday. They told me his petition was sent to our local office for me to go to an interview April 11, 2011. I asked him was this would be and I was told he has never heard of a I-130 petitioner having to go to an interview. My husband is in Mexico and we are not doing an AOS, we are just filing the I-130. Does anyone know why they are doing this or has this happened to anyone else?

Sometimes it happens that they will interview the petitioner

I agree, sometimes it happens. They may have spotted something in your application that raised a flag and wish to discuss it with you.

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

It's rare, but it does happen. Usually because there is something they find odd about your application. Are there any red flags? For example, did you recently get divorced, or filed for another husband previously?

No this was a first marriage for both of us and we have been married almost four years. I dont know what it could be about. I guess the only thing to do is just stress out until my interview haha. I just wish theyd let me know if I need to bring anything with me to the interview.

The exact same thing happened to me. There was nothing unusual about our case but it "just happens" sometimes. A lawyer told me I was picked for an interview because they are interviewing everyone petitioning for someone from my country. Don't worry, unless there is something that caught their attention, they'll be asking very basic questions (i.e. where is your spouse living?). Nothing extraordinary. :)

The definitely want to talk to you about something. It's not random. Were you perhaps married in the USA when your spouse was here illegally? That's one common trigger for what they call a "standard interview".

I had a local office interview also and am not really sure why I received one. It went well and from what I hear most of them do. Just be prepared and if you have any questions then you can message me. Good luck!

You get the appointment letter yet?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Ok I finally got my appointment letter yesterday. My appointment is now April 19,2011. Im so happy I finally got the letter! The reason for the appointment is because my husband had been deported in Feb. 2007 and we were married June 2007. So they are having me bring evidence of a bona fide marriage. Definitely have no more worries now! I know everything will go great! Ill post again after the appointment to let everyone know what all goes on. Thank you everyone for your input :)
