Packet 3 waiting time!

Any UK filers please help.

US Embassy received my case on March 15TH and i called them today to ask if i could send in my paperwork but they said no i have to wait until packet 3 is sent out even though my case is logged into their system.

I asked when i would receive this and they said its a case by case process and could not give me a time limit.

They also stated that it could take between 3 - 6 months for it to process at the US embassy in london.

HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE IN THE UK? WHATS THE LONGEST YOU HAVE WAITED FOR YOUR PACKET 3 TO BE SENT?

nah i just sent it in as soon as it was logged and i had my lnd number....i also booked and had the medical once it was logged in london....i didnt wait for a packet 3 letter,its just a link to the embassy website with a list of what to send

so as soon as you found out it was logged by the embassy you sent in your documents?

1. did it cause any problems?

2. did u send it recorded?

3. how long before you actually recieved packet 3 and did u recieve packet 4 yet?

We sent ours in shortly after we got our case number and it was logged.

No need to wait for the hard copy of the letter; doesn't say anything magical!

Its just that the guy told me to wait for packet 3 before sending in my documents. I dont know whether sending them in before packet 3 will actually speed up the process or not.

this was the guy from the embassy on that really expensive phone line!!!

As long as your case has been logged, you are good to go.

I've read on here about some individuals never receiving their actual hard copy of their packet 3. It doesn't say much - other than to visit the web site link.

Did you rceive packet 4? isnt this the letter that sends you your interview date?

Two things. Never call the London Embassy for the simple things about your case. It is way easier, and less expensive to call DOS to see the status on your case. To call DOS 1-202-663-1225 press option 1 and then 0 to get an operator to inquire about the status of your case.

Another thing, people have had their packet 3 letter sent out by London and never received it. It is nothing magical, just a link to the instructions and forms that need filling in http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

no problems at all, just got the packet 3 letter in the post a few days after i sent it, i just sent it standard first class by royal mail.

and about the packet 4.....no i havent recieved it yet,and my interview is this friday.

i would advise that you call london or have your fiancee call the DOS once in a while to see if an interview date had been booked,they wont book it untill the medical and packet 3 are in though

I called the DOS on 16th March and they told me we had an interview date for the 22nd. SO GLAD I CALLED!

The DOS said it showed that it was scheduled to be mailed on 8th March, but they couldn't confirm if it had indeed been sent (!).

So thankful I called and kept following up!

Someone else may be able to jump in here and confirm - but I believe the embassy has the most current information, and THEN it's relayed to the DOS... so perhaps it could take a few days for them to update their system?

I actually spoke to an operator assistance not just a voice recording, I have everything ready and booked.

That wwould make sense as the oonly way DOS. Should know is via the embassy.

On a seperate noote does anyone know where I find the naturalization number on the certificate of citizenship as there are 2 numbers on there, one top right and the other slightly below which starts with the letter A
