Things are finally moving quickly. My husband picked up his packets in Lagos on August 29th and interview date is set for Sept. 27th ! We are both so very excited. I do have one questio tho...with the holiday I am not able to get out app for visa until Sept 5th...I am a little nervous that it will not be back to in time for my flight to Lagos on Sept 24th....does anyone know if they offer expedited services? I have looked at websites for embassy in Washington DC ..but so not see any info regarding expedited services. Can anyone offer advice???

I think you should call the D.C office first thing on Tuesday and ask about expedited service and include your travel date and particular circumstance. I think that office has been responsive, in the past, to deadlines. Had to renew a passport sometime ago urgently and they were able to get it back to me on time.

I am sure something will be worked out but you must call and speak to someone. I am optimistic you will be accomodated.

Could you please tell me the contents of the package your husband received for his interview. I have been trying hard to get a complete picture of the current requirements, at theLagos embassy, before interview. I harp on current because i do not wish to have any surprises hence this request from someone (like your husband) who has collected his packages very recently.

I just would like to be sure i gather all the documents necessary before sending to Nigeria. Kindly help with this info, if you can.

Thanks!

The Washington office is now offering expedited service. There is an extra fee($80-$100?) I this and you will have to pay for Fed Ex or what ever courier service you use. You will have to be persistent with them. I had a MAJOR run in with them when I was getting my son's visa issued and ended up missing the flight over to Lagos. Now they Also have consulate offices in Atlanta and New York and I was told that the New York office is very fast.

Congratulations and God Bless you both with success

Yeah, they are butts in that DC office. I almost missed my flight in January due to their stupidity. I got it a day prior to my flight. The problem is not getting the visa, the problem is for someone to be smart enough and FEDEX it. Open an account with FEDEX for $10 and make sure that you send a return self addressed FEDEX envelope with your visa application and also include your FEDEX account number on that return FEDEX envelope.FEDEX will pick it up and charge your account later on.I think you have plenty of time if you do it now. But keep up with it and call them if you think is getting close. Good luck!!!

I had My Passport back with visa in 1 week so dont sweat it its very possible. Do call and let them know what is going on. I have never had a problem with them once I finally got them on the phone. I am not sure if this might be an option for you, but I didnt trust the expedite service so what I did was flew into NY anf went to the embassy there they have same day service for an additional 80 fee I think.. I takes a hour or so. I will give you a contact there if you think that is an option for you. It is a little more inconvenient since you will have to fly to ny from Indiana then take a cab to the embassy but I was always afraid the mail wouldnt come on time. PM ,e or email me and I will give you better detail. Congratulations on the interview date bu the way!!!

i have never had a problem with getting my visa within 7 days. you should get your visa back within 7-10 business days. If I were you I would pay to send it next day fed ex and return next day and use the expedited fee for a multiple entry visa!

Every day is one day closer to the end of my visa journey.

There is a company called Travel Documents Systems. All the info is on their online site and you can fed ex everything to them (they are in Washington DC) and they will hand deliver it and get the visa back to you in a matter of 3 or 4 days. Last time I traveled, i was lax because I knew they were fast and did not realize that I needed more pages in my visa. I was a bit panicky, but they even got that done speedily for me in S.F. and got the visa to me in time. Well worth the $40 I think they charge!

Wow, that is a early interview date, In 2004 there was at least a 3-month wait. As for the visa, both times that I went to Nigeria ( years 2003 and 2004 ) Washington DC had my visa back to me in plenty of time, and remember that you do have to send them a copy of your flight schedule, so they will know that your traveling soon, I don't think your visa will arrive within time at least from my experience I only had to wait a little over a week and my passport was back with the stamp in it.

Congrats on reuniting with your husband, and enjoy your time there in Nigeria !!!

i had the same problem as taye did so i had to use passportexpress. their website is www.passportexpress.com

they are located right across the street from the nigerian embassy in D.C. i had to sign a document giving them the authorization to handle my visa. i emailed them on a sunday evening and they called me within 30mins. i had to pay only $50 and it was worth it b/c i received my passport w/visa stamp the following Tuesday via fedex. my passport was just sitting there on a desk w/the visa stamp in it and i was to board my flight the Thursday morning. But passportexpress made sure I received it in time.
