Is there Russian programming on Hulu? We have a subscription, I haven't seen any. Netflix has some Russian stuff, but the selection is pretty small and much of it is ancient.

To the best of my knowledge, there is nothing Russian on Hulu. But then I haven't looked for much besides Саша + Маша (which isn't there :( ) and my wife is more interested in shows like Being Erica than anything from the motherland.

Hey Chris

That other website is www.webtelek.com ............ looks kind of interesting. I'll have Olga take a look tomorrow when I get home from work. $17.95 a month for 86 channels beats the hell out of directv ! BUT how do I connect the computer to the tv ????? :huh:

Any tech gurus out there with any suggestions ????

Depends on what you're working with.

Laptop or desktop. LCD TV or tube. How far is PC to TV?

You can buy some PC to TV wireless senders or if the PC is close enough to the TV, buy a long cable for a few bucks.

I have a LCD tv, and what we did the other day was take a monitor cable (VGA cable...very cheap on either Amazon or monoprice.com) and run it from the computer to the back of the TV. Not all of the older tv's (tube) have this connection. Or I saw on Tanya's laptop she has a DMI port which I imagine can be run from the latptop to the tv, provided you have an open HDMI slot. Once this has been done I then select the source which on my tv is PC. Then I have essentially made my TV a huge monitor. :) The volume is something different. we just use the volume on the laptop. It's not perfect, but it is volume. You can also hook up some external speakers to the laptop, or try to play around with the volume on a receiver if you have one.

Thanks for the ideas .... I've got a desktop and a new LCD tv .... course it's on the other side of the living room ( going to be buying a helluva lot of cable ! ). I like the idea of the wireless gizmos, but not sure if I could get it to work right.

Guess it's time to experiment !

I would test the desktop + TV before you buy anything. To see if you like the results. The LCD TV is basically a giant monitor but you would need to adjust the resolution on the PC. You could run a 25ft VGA cable if you wanted to.

we use a HDMI cable to hook up our laptop to the tv.. it works great because it has video and audio so you don't have to mess around with a lot of cables... most laptops have HDMI nowadays...

My wife gets a lot of movies and shows from back home and watches them on our DVD player. What's really cool is the upconverting DVD player takes them from Soviet-era '60s grainy, dark, choppy film to 1080i (well, sort of) HD and it's actually watchable. Sound is pretty decent too.

Ah shame about Hulu. It's not a big priority, we watch almost no TV anyway, but would have been nice.
