My green card will expire this coming November. I have no idea what to file next. I heard I have to file it three months before the expiration which means I should file on August. Is there an appearance needed? coz I will be flying to California in August. I am from New Jersey. Any information, suggestions, tips and help is highly appreciated guys! Thanks in advance.

You will need to file an I-751, Petition to Remove the Conditions of Residence. It is necessary to submit the petition within the 90 days preceding your green card's two-year anniversary. You may be scheduled for an interview.

Hope this helps you some! Good luck!

In VJ,go to example forms tab and then choose I-175 portion. You would see sample forms there that you could modify in your application. The coverleter sample list some evidence that could be helpful for you. Also, there are some pinned items on this forum, read on them, very helpful for you.

If you go to USCIS website, I-175 has separate PDF for instructions on filing it up. Again, read on it and you wont get loss.

Goodluck.

You will need to keep your expired passport as long as you are a lawful permanent resident. You'll need to show it when filing for naturalization as they want to see entry stamps to the US when checking when and how long you have been out of the country while being a Green Card holder.

Keep it.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
