Hi I am beyond pissed off. I sent my Affidavit of Support information, banking statements, etc. to the US Embassy in Belize City on AUGUST 25th on a "2-DAY EXPRESS" [60 bucks], using ****UPS***** First, they claimed that weather problems were causing delays and then after calling them 4 times they finally admitted that they had LOST the package!!!! Not only had they lost it, but they were UNAPOLOGETIC and did not say they would refund my money!

To make matters worse, my husband's interview for last thursday was CANCELLED because they did not have the forms they needed from ME....great....so now they re-scheduled him or next tuesday, but as of TODAY, UPS has STILL not been able to find my package!!!!

**********DO NOT USE UPS FOR IMPORTANT INTERNATIONAL MAIL********* HORRIBLE SERVICE, MEAN PEOPLE, NO REFUNDS!!!

OH gosh, I had a bad UPS experience at my last office; it was the worst customer service experience I ever had. They said we overlooked an invoice for $11.00 - they said if we didn't get the $11.00 to them within 24 hours they would close our account (keep in mind that we were HIGH volume shipper, so that 11 bucks was almost comical).

Anyway, they told me to send it to them UPS. I did. They signed for it. They then closed our account for not sending it. They accused us of not sending it, when I used THEIR service and THEY signed for it (I even had the sig from the webpage). Ridiculous. It was like they were admitting they sucked... and willing to lose business over it.

I am so sorry this happened to you. :(

I cancelled my account with UPS long ago for that reason. I build and sell computers during my "spare" time. 1 out of 4 would be delivered broken. I ordered a 19" CRT monitor from one of my suppliers. I received it, then immediately shipped it to the customer. It arrived with damage. I filed a claim. UPS claimed the box wasn't satisfactory and denied my claim. I pointed out that it was the EXACT SAME BOX THEY DELIVERED THE MONITOR IN!!!!! They refused to do anything. I was out $220 for a monitor. That was the end of my business, really. I never sold any complete systems again. I ordered the customer another monitor, had it drop-shipped from the supplier, and demanded that they use Fed Ex for delivery. It arrived with no problems.

I have NEVER gotten UPS to pay for any of the damage they've done. Why again do I even have insurance then?

A lesson to everyone.... use Fed Ex, DHL, or USPS for sending documents to your fiance. I've used the USPS several times and have never had a problem. Ditto with Fed Ex.

I would probably use DHL more if there were an office/shipping center here. I had an account with Airborne Express before DHL bought them. Problem was the cost of pick-up. I never had any issue with them at all, though. Just convenience.

Well here's the update....they told me to RE-DO EVERYTHING [including getting my bank statements, notarizing, etc.] and that they would send it TODAY "overnight international"...

Well...i went to all the trouble to do ALL of that this morning...I arrived at UPS and they said "OOOPS...sorry, there is no overnight international service"....and "the earliest we can send your documents is TUESDAY....and it will arrive 11:00 PM Thursday night".....#######?!!!!! they told me NOBODY has a service that can send international overnight...what BS is that? at that point couldn't I send it on a damn airplane directly to Belize????

SO IT LOOKS LIKE STEVEN'S TUESDAY INTERVIEW WILL HAVE TO BE CANCELLED NOW....this is absurd!!! not to mention, how bad it looks on our behalf as a couple...cancelling multiple interviews....

NEVER USE UPS! horrible customer service and they can't admit when they've "LOST" a package...they keep telling me they're "tracing it" (which is a step higher than tracking)...such BS....poor sports...they have no idea how much this has affected me...steven had even planned to leave his job by this week and be in the US...he'd already found his employer a new employee... :(

OMG Im truely sorry for all the touble you are having. Cant you fax him all the paper work or have it scaned and hour hubby print them out? Tell the interviewr that the original documents are in the mail and will arrive the follwoing day and go back and show them the original paper work when it arrives? I know they always want the real deal but its worth a try. Im really really sorry your having all this trouble.

Oh Belize,

I am so sorry that UPS has caused more stress in this visa process! They truly suck! Its good though that you have shared your experiences with the rest of the VJers so we know NOT to use them for such important documents in which our daily lives depend on it! I am sure your husband will get those documents once u choose another courier service and here's hoping all shall be well at the interview...

Thanks to all other VJers for posting their experiences with the different courier services......

The one time I used UPS to send a package overnight to my husband in cyprus..it got there in a day or so as planned but when it went thru customs, when they looked at the declaration form which the person at the UPS stored filled out, they customs officials in cyprus were not satisfied at how she declared my items so they held there and the UPS contact in Cyprus called me, urging me to fill out another declaration form..I went down to the ups store and did that, they did not apologize for their error and even charged the $3 dollars it took to fax it to them! That was the last time I told myself that I would use them for international services!!!!

I am really sorry for your situation... :( I didn't know UPS was that bad... Actually I work at DHL Japan and people at work advised me not to use DHL for shipments to and from USA, and to use FedEx or UPS. haha... I guess it depends on where you are going to ship to ;)
