Manila slowdown/backlog - Anyone heard this?

A guy that is helping me with my fiancee's visa told sent me this info this morning...anyone else heard or experiencing this?

Right now things are really running slow with USCIS due to the back up in Manila US Embassy. I have learned that 3 things have slowed the process down a lot.

1. High profile visitors from the USA recently showed up to Manila US Embassy canceling two days worth of interviews, which has thrown everything out of sync.

2. New construction to the existing US Embassy has created a number of security problem thus again causing rescheduling to many applicants for all visa types.

3. The head supervisor of the US Embassy has asked USCIS service centers all over to slow down on processing all visa types for the Philippines until they can get back on track in Manila. This means that other countries are now jumping in front of Philippine visa applicants for processing until Manila has a grip on the situation. We have some K1 & K3 Applicants who have gone more than a month over from their anticipated waiting. Also some of those have been asked to call back a month later to try and schedule their interview appointments.

I'm approximately 2 months away from my NOA2 and hoping that this will be straightened out before then (HOPING,) and after hearing this, it seems like it's 1 step forward 2 steps back. It's getting old!

More info:

I have a lot of 2010 clients who are chomping at the bit lately to get their foot in the door for the interview and I can't help them, nobody can help them, this is one of those POWER things where much red tape is involved lately with high profile government officials coming to the US Embassy and then honestly this is the main reason for the hold up which creates a ripple effect for months to come.

Not only did the US Embassy of Manila adopt a couple of extra holidays for the 2011 year but each and every time the big wigs come they shut down everything and turn applicants who have scheduled appointments away telling them to reschedule and for many this is a huge hardship financially as many had to buy airline tickets to get here a lot of planning all to be turned away because of unexpected government officials arriving here.

I haven't heard any of that. It sounds like a lot of hot air to me.

A better explanation might be that the Immigrant Visa Unit was closed between March 4 and March 8 in order to move into their new building on the Embassy grounds. They had it posted on their web site.

Your case should not be affected by it.
