A miniscule ray of hope

So, I decided to call USCIS customer service again today - second time this week. This time, I got a woman, and she seemed more sympathetic to my plight than the fellow I had last time. She was more receptive to transferring me to a tier 2 - it was like pulling teeth last time. Maybe me getting emotional helped a little bit. Anyway, so I was so excited when I finally got transferred to an ISO. He put me on hold to look at my case and I got disconnected, so I had to call back and go through the whole rigamarole again. Right off the bat, I told the operator I had been on the phone with an ISO and been disconnected, so they transferred me right away.

So, I was connected to an ISO. She had a thick accent and seemed like a little bit of an airhead, but she was REALLY nice and helpful. I told her that I had just gotten disconnected and the last guy was about to put in a service request for me (ok, maybe I stretched the truth a little bit, but again, it helped) and she was like "oh ok sure I will put that in for you". So I am all excited & she starts to do it but then she tells me she can't choose the option for a petition being outside of the normal processing time, because my case is within the normal processing time and I have to wait 45 more days, and it won't let her process one. They are still saying they are processing August 21st cases..which they have been saying this for a week.

But, I was persistent. I said "please...I would really appreciate your help on this...can't you put some sort of notice on my account, something?" And she was like "Oh sure, well I can put it as a request to approve" or something (I guess they have different options they can choose for reasons for a service request? that is the vibe I got)..I didn't really understand...and she was talking to herself as she wrote it out "Please approve and send to NVC as soon as possible". I am not sure if this is a "service request" per se because she didn't say anything about that I should expect to hear something within thirty days or anything like that. I was afraid maybe she was just making something up to get me off the phone, but I asked for a confirmation number and she gave me one. She seemed eager to end the call so I didn't push any further, I didn't want to push my luck.

SO...that's something. I don't know if it will actually help anything or speed things up in any way, but it can't hurt.

If I didn't know better I would say she was being sarcastic, just based on the phrasing, but who knows. I wish you luck.
