Hello All, I called the NVC to see if they had received our case and they had on the 10th and I was told it was being processed and we were issued a case number. I spoke to a wonderful operator at the NVC I ask her, When the NVC is finished processing our file will it sit at the NVC or will it be forwarded to the Cairo Embassy? She told me they didn't know anything at this point. She gave me this email address and told me if I had any questions to contact them cairovisainquiries@state.gov and to state it was about our K1 visa in the email.

Hello I didnt comment earlier because I had seen the link before. Now I see they are telling you the same thing I was told, so I thought I would spare you the same butterflies and anticipation I felt when I waited to hear back from the email I sent. Here is the email I sent, followed by th return email I recieved, which basically doesnt add up to a hill of beans! Ugh!

Email I sent:

Hello, my name is Amber. I am writing you today in hopes of

getting some answers to my questions. I am married to an Egyptian man and

we started the visa process June of 2010. Our case was finally completed

on January 31, 2011 at the NVC. I just arrived back to the USA from Egypt

yesterday on February 28th and I finally had the chance to call the NVC to

ask what would happen now with the embassy closed in Cairo. I was told to

email you and ask. So my questions are:

1. What will happen with our case now?

2. Can my husband have an interview in another country's embassy?

3. Is there anything we can do to get him a visa even if it is a temporary

one in order to get him to the USA?

4. Is there any news about the embassy in Cairo reopening anytime soon?

I realize you are probaly getting many emails like this from others and I

appologize for asking you, but the thing is we are just so sad and

confused by all this and need to know something solid and concrete. I wish

to thank you in advance for your kind consideration in this matter that is

most dear and precious to us. Below you will find important information

regarding our case.

The return email:

Thank you for contacting Cairo Visa Inquiries.

The visa section at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt is currently closed. The

embassy will only be opened for emergency services to U.S. citizens from 9:00am to

12:00pm until further notice. You may monitor the Embassy's website at

http://egypt.usembassy.gov for the latest changes to the embassy hours or services.

Your husband may submit an application for a nonimmigrant tourist visa at any U.S.

Embassy or Consulate if you wish. Of course we cannot guarantee a visa will be

issued. It is not possible to predict when the Embassy will resume normal visa

processing at this time.

We trust that this information will be helpful.

Sincerely,

Visa Specialist, rsc

Bureau of Consular Affairs

Ohhhhhh I forgot to add....

The VERY BEST part of the whole return email... ........... We trust that this information will be helpful.......... SERIOUSLY??? Come on SERIOUSLY?????

This is how I felt all at once........:o:jest::rolleyes::angry::wacko::blink::bonk::help::crying::protest::ranting::no::girlwerewolf2xn::rofl::wow:

To be honest it felt like adding insult to injury and then in some crazy way it felt almost too comical... I know they don't know much so they just say what they are told to say, but my point is why does the NVC give us this ray of hope instead of keeping it real and telling us this from the jump start? Why give us this email addy and waste everyone's time?

Me and my husband are also at the NVC stage and I also called and spoke with a woman at the NVC, this is what I was told one week ago! She told me that the NVC is the one who will set up the interview for my husband and that they are rescheduling the interviews for the ones who had already had interviews set up from before and then after this they will start setting up interviews for the rest of us waiting. She told me to expect to wait 2-3 months to hear anything for an interview because of the back up from the cancelled interviews which needed to be rescheduled. She also told me they schedule all interviews for the following month on the 2nd week of each month. Example: the 2nd week of March they set up all interviews for April and the 2nd week of April they will set up all the interviews they will schedule for May..and so on. So from what I gather the embassy is still doing interviews for families who are married to US citizens or children of US citizens ONLY! This was what I was told...I hope its true!

I don't know what to think about this... in a way I am praying it is true and then in a way I am praying it is not! I mean we have to wait another 2 to 3 months for an interview with the possibility of AP hanging over our heads??!!??!! I was hoping within 2 to 3 months the interview would be over! :crying: I'm sorry I am just so upset right now I don't know what to say!

In my opinion the NVC doesn't know squat. My fiance had his interview on 1/12, he was approved, placed in AP and they kept his passport. According to the embassy website, reply emails, and actually talking with a CO in Cairo, they are telling me that since my fiance had his interview prior to them closing they are still working on it and will complete it and issue his visa, however NVC is telling me its on hold. When I tell them all of this information, their reply was...well, we're not on the grounds of Cairo, we don't know whats going on...really I figured that much out myself!! I don't bother calling them anymore, I call the embassy directly, I feel I get a better answer from them.

Mandy,

I did see that since your fiance had his interview already the embassy will continue working on his case, this is AWESOME news for you two!

I am just so sad now because I don't know what to think or believe anymore. I am the kind that needs to know everything in order to gain a solid ground on which to stand firmly. I

know we are all in the same boat and my heart goes out to all of us. I am getting to the point where I can't stand to read here on VJ all the people complaining it has been 1, 2 or 3 months and still no NOA2!

Excuse me??? Surely they are kidding right? I am counting the weeks until I will yet again board a plane and make that cross Atlantic trip to

spend 2 months with Ahmed. I pray before that we will all know something more! Living on 2 month intervals is better than nothing at all for sure, but OMG the "see you soons" at the airport when I am leaving kills me a little more each time. Sorry to whine and complain but really I am blown away by this latest development. :wow:

I know exactly how you feel, I don't come on here much because its too depressing, I'm ready to pull my hair out!!! Although they are still working on our case, I know they are short staffed and things are being delayed because of that.

I am the same as you, if someone could give me a date and say this is when he will get the visa or there is a time limit in AP, blah blah I could deal a lot better. And it doesn't help when everyone around you is asking the same questions.."when is he coming?" I would like to know the answer to that myself. I have thought about taking another trip back there if he doesn't get it within the next month before the baby comes and while I'm still able to fly.

I know the situation in Egypt may not be completely stable, but they should still be able to function, or at least work on the immigrant visa's so they don't get so backed up. Saying prayers for everyone that is being effected by this!!

Hi, I would like to ask what everyone thinks we should do. We have a co sponsor and he is wanting to send his I-134 and documents directly to the US Embassy in Cairo. Since they're Closed, When do you think he should mail the documents to the Embassy?

Ofcourse we will write the Case Number on the papers but this is alittle scary to us because we're afraid they will misplace them before Hany's Interview.

Thanks to all in advance :)

The embassy itself is not closed, I sent docs to them a week after the revolution started and they got them. My concern would be like you said, they would get lost if they don't have his file yet. I would tell your co-sponsor to wait until you at least know the embassy has received the file.

So I just called the NVC out of my own curiosity and asked the same questions I asked the last time I called and she read to me the info from the Cairo Embassy webpage and then I asked her about what the last woman told me she put me on hold to verify this and came back to tell me she doesnt have this information only what she read to me from the Cairo Embassy webpage that they are currently closed...so its true they dont know anything and must be they make up what they want as they go. Im not calling them anymore I guess I will just wait for an email!
