Mmmm, are you sure? 'REFUSAL WORKSHEET & This office regrets to inform you that you have been found ineligible to receive a visa' sounds exactly like a denial to me :(

You should put the whole letter in context...it continues on and states that the embassy will contact the petitioner when their review is completed. It really appears that you are in AP hold for the time being. Hopefully it won't be too long.

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

K, just off the phone with the Department of State. This is not a refusal letter, although it states that you are ineligible for a visa... stupid, just stupid. Another thing to add to the list of irritants, AOS meaning 2 things and 'This office regrets to inform you that you have been found ineligible to receive a visa' meaning we can't think of a suitable phrase to say there are some discrepancies that need to be investigated, see checked box below for findings that need to be reviewed...

I've been up 20 hours - spending my days getting paperwork together, making phone calls dealing with this and then working nights... time for sleep.

Thanks to all who had information to share, I appreciate it!

Apologies if I state in a comment that my husband and I have been together for years & years. It's just that I can hardly remember a time when he and I were not together.

Ahhhhhhhhhh!!! We are currently in Administrative Processing with no time-lines to guide us!

My husband is looking at cars in Trinidad for me as his wish has come true! Me a Trini-Wife!

BUT

I will call DoS weekly to check the progress and I will not give up hope.

July of 2011 is the cut off date for us, when I will either start construction on a home here in the US or return to Trinidad to be with my husband.

You are correct it is a bad choice of words and form . They are just to lazy to type out a new letter. Hopefully they will get the additional security checks done quickly. Try to get some sleep and relax.

It's not a denial; the choice of words and manner of expression is the problem. They meant to say he's ineligible to receive a visa at that particular moment until the AP is completed. Once it's completed, they'll call him to come pick up visa, if found eligible after name check. You've nothing to worry about as long as there's no 'red-flag' regarding his name.

Cheers!

I want to thank everyone who helped me to understand the forms that we received, both at the interview and afterward, those who suggested verification, and those who offered support. Our paperwork and my husband's passport were returned to him at the closing of the interview. On one hand this is a bad sign if they have no intention of reviewing anything and on the other, Trinidadians tend to prize their passport highly and rarely appreciate it being held for any reason, so we wait. My husband is making plans for my return to Trinidad and has no intention of dealing with the embassy again unless it is to escort me there to get my US passport updated in the future.

I intend to call the DoS weekly to ask for a status update as emailing or calling the US Consulate has resulted in multiple hangups while being transferred to receiving token form letters about totally unrelated of travel visas.

Holy Crappiedoodles - MORE INFO ?!?!??!

They returned the entire VISA PACKET and his passport to him? (Perhaps I'm wrong for definition of 'our documents')

Sheesh - prepare for a long long long AP process, lass - as

USUALLY - a short AP - USEmbassy IV keeps all.

How much is 'all' for that visa packet?

(Not trying to second guess here, but.....)

FWIW - yer husband doesn't need to escort you into the US Embassy - yer a US Citizen - and by right - you can go alone....

I am not sure exactly what they kept or what they returned. I asked my husband if they kept his passport and he said no, his passport and the 'files were returned', I asked if the originals only and he said, 'No, our files'. He wasn't in the mood to discuss it and I wasn't in the mood to keep pushing him.
