The Solstice is trashed

Well it was snowing and Alla went out, a woman driving the other way on the road lost it and spun into Alla's lane and WHAM! No one hurt, thanks to airbags. The car is trashed and towed to a repair shop where our insurance has an agent on duty. No doubt totaled. I am sure she will have a rental for a few days and then time for a new car. Oh, well, just so much bent sheet metal as long as no one is hurt.

Stressful for sure! I am glad your wife is OK. No one deserves to have a loved one hurt. Accidents suck! A car is replacable, a loved one is not (IMO).

Stressful for sure! I am glad your wife is OK. No one deserves to have a loved one hurt. Accidents suck! A car is replacable, a loved one is not (IMO).

She takes these things really well, not flustered at all. In fact she seems to get real calm and rational. If she sees a black bear, she will run away screaming, literally. But in a car accident she doesn;t seem to flinch. But when she called me it was very matter of fact. It was about this time last year she launched the same car off a high embankment and ended up in a cranberry bog. Same thing, very calm and matter of fact. The car was fixable that time, no way this time.

I think she said something like "Hi Gary, I was in accident. Everyone is OK. Except the car."

Yeah, cars are just cars. She will get another. I doubt it will be a convertible sports car, it wasn't a good winter car.

Yes. And they don't make them anymore. It was a really fun car, but not a good winter car and not very practical. It was driven mostly by Alla only to go to school, so it was fine for her. The boys LOVED it. Pasha was just driving it this morning

Those cars were a beaut. I never had the pleasure to drive one, but ascetics wise they look like a sports car should look like.

Glad to hear that she's okay. It's frightful to get 'that' phone-call, I know. Right after we moved to NM, Mr. Sachinky was involved in a car crash and our (Honda CRV) car was totaled. But thank God, he was ok, minor bruises and a burnt arm from the burst air-bag. I still remember my two hour walk back to the hotel from the mall (where he was supposed to pick me up from on his way back from work). I was half-crying, half in a daze. It was literally our second day in town and we had no one to turn to. His employers were very helpful though and eventually we ended up getting a new Corolla Sport on our first anniversary.

She hasn't said yet. I have to do all the calling tomorrow to get her a rental car until things get settled. I am sure she will be looking for something soon, she is doing homework tonight. She may go back to her original desire for a small four door car which is what she ws looking for when she spotted the Solstice and since it was about the same price...
