DS-260 Are exact dates checked?

Hi All,

Not sure if this was asked before but I could not find any posts with this question.

As far as I am concerned, the DS-260 (replacing DS-230) asks for exact "days" of addresses & employment history for the beneficiary since the age of 16. Does anyone know if this is checked? I honestly do not remember the exact days I moved from place to place or the exact day I started/quit a job. I may not even remember the exact month!! Would it be a problem if I am off by some days or by some months or if I accidentally omit some history record because I do not remember?

Has anyone goten an RFE for puting wrong date? (not sure how could they check)

Ugh I've been working on the DS-260 for days now! I am filling it out for hubby. He's having a very hard time finding all the places he lived since 16! I wish I knew what they checked.

The way I see it is if you do all you can to find out (old payslips, leases, check taxes) then as long as you put down your best estimation I dont believe there is anything else you can do. Even if they give you a RFE, there will be no further information you will be able to give them.

This is, at least, what I will be doing.

Do your best to fill it out to your knowledge. For example, if you left a job, typically you gave notice and a Friday was your last day. Go back on a calendar and figure out what those dates might have been. I would try to only be off by a couple of days, not months, big difference!

When I was filling out this info for the I-130 for USCIS I randomly remembered I worked at Abercrombie and Fitch for 4 hours when I was 17 ( I know what was I thinking lol) I had found a W2 for it and was terrified of an RFE. But I got nothing. The interview is the final stop so I'm thinking that maybe if things don't add up correctly but are close enough to the facts they might get brought up at the interview, but maybe not. I assume this whole process is to check for validity of relationship and identity in general and the itsy bitsy tiny details might fall through the cracks.

I am hoping the same because I lived in the US for 5 years (as a student) and work in numerous part-time jobs which I cannot remember. And, I did not keep my tax info... Even if I were to get the transcripts, they do not give dates so I am in the same position..

Did you make a photocopy of your G325a from the CIS applicaton? if so, write the exact work/housing history you wrote the first time. If your information is wrong it'll be consistently incorrect.
