hey guys,

I wish I could have all my friends for our wedding party. it's coming soon. :dancing:

I was wondering what is the next step. We want to do immigration issues very fast so I don't know how can I find out. I was not satisfied with my lawyer and I think we can do that by ourselves. what do you think?

thanks for your replies.

you can MOST DEFINITELY do it on your own!

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

No need for a lawyer to do AOS - most everyone here has done it themselves witha little advice from folk who've already gone through it - head to the Adjustment of status guiides and forum and away you go!

Good luck - this is the nicest part of the journey - you get to be together while doing the waiting!

Your medical is good for 1 year, so you're fine. You will probably be required to have the vaccination supplement - the AOS forum would be more helpful then posting here.

Your marriage certificate needs to be filed with the county you got married in and then you get an official copy which is stamped by the county - you will need a photocopy of that for the AOS.

You can apply for your SSN a few weeks after you've entered (probably around now) fill out the form and go to the office. They have helpful guides here for that too. If you're a femal and wish to get teh SSN in your married name then you'll need your official copy of teh marriage cert from the county again.

AGAIN - do some reading and don't expect to just ask question - the same question gets asked over and over ...reading and searching can help you find the answers as well.

Good luck

Thank you all.

in uscis website in i485 instruction says: if you are a K1 fiance and had a medical in past year...you only need to submit a vaccination supplement, not entire medical report...

I got this copy from Montreal, but why in VJ, some people in their check list talk about I-693 Vaccinations only,Copy DS-3025 Vaccination record ?

and second q. how many photos do I need if I apply for EAD and AP with i485?

I didn't even have a copy of my vaccination suppliment, but after contacting the office where I did my medical in Montreal, they told me it was included in the sealed medical package that you had to hand in at your POE. I didn't get my vaccinations transcribed onto the I-693 and didn't have any issues with it. I called all the civil surgeons in my area and they all wanted to re-do the whole medical. I didn't really have the extra money at the time so I took a chance and I ended up saving ~$300 since I didn't need it!! I am pretty sure that some of the other members from Canada put in a copy of the suppliment as well. (I would have but just didn't have it!)

You need to send 2 passport photo's for each application. So if you are submitting the I-485, I-131 and I-765 you will need 6 photo's.
