Well Karen had her K-1 interview yesterday at the Embassy in Singapore and things didn't go as well as we hoped but at least she didn't get a denial. They said we were lacking in evidence. They requested 3 things

  1. They want an official copy of my divorce papers. Even though USCIS accepts a photocopy, not all embassies do so go ahead and send an official copy with your I-129F.
  2. They want the CENOMAR (certificate of no prior marriage) sent directly from the NSO office in the Philippines to the Embassy. The instructions that she had specifically said to bring the CENOMAR with her to the interview but during her interview she was given updated instructions that state the CENOMAR should be sent directly from the NSO office. Singapore embassy should have updated us about this change. It makes me pretty angry. I'm heavily censoring my true thoughts and feelings right now.
  3. They want a police clearance. the background on this is that my Fiancee is a Philippine citizen living and working in Singapore. Sometime back in November the Singaporean police decided to stop issuing police clearances for non singaporeans. Then suddenly a week before the interview (without our knowledge) they decided to allow visa applicants to appeal this allowing them to get a police clearance. We didn't know this going into the interview because we had already checked into it thoroughly before the interview but by the time it was changed we had already had everything put together for the interview. We didn't find out about the change until the interview.

Well anyways, they told her to come back when she has those 3 things. They ddin't even make her schedule an appointment they just told her to come back. I just thought i'd share my experience.

I hope everything goes well :) In fact, it will go well, because they didnt deny her, they only said to come back when have all the evidence they look for. Sometimes those procedures are very hard for us to understand, but once she gets what they need, she will be approved :)

Good luck and wish you all the best!!!

Thanks, i'm sure it will go well. I just wanted to get this off my chest by posting it, hoping it will help me with my emotions. also I just wanted to warn people that even though USCIS accepts photocopies of divorce papers, the Embassy might not so never send a photocopy just send the offical copy

Also, the CENOMAR supposedly takes 6-8 weeks!!! hahah I gave them my FedEx account number so hopefully that will speed things up. I mean the processing is 3 days but the 6-8 weeks is the estimated international shipping time frame.

Sorry about your interview problems.

Was it the embassy in Singapore that says that you can now appeal the police certificate for non-Singapore citizens or is it something on the Singapore Police website? I can not find on the website where it says that you can appeal. My fiancée worked in Singapore for a year and will be interviewing in Manila soon. I am wondering if this is a requirement from the US Embassy in Singapore.

The embassy in Singapore told us that we can appeal and then my fiancee already went to the police station and they let her do the appeal. The appeal itself takes 5-10 days and then assuming you are approved the police clearance takes 14 days

I am assuming that the appeal must be done in person. Maybe this is a US Embassy in Singapore thing. I have heard of some that had their interview in Manila and did not need the police cert from Singapore.
