I know people say to go ahead and gather things for your packet 3 so you save time but..If for example we got the police records and the medical examination now..And get our NOA2 2 months later, that leaves a 2 month gap in those records when you send it in. So how early can you start getting these?

I would say 2 months prior is good enough.. dont know how long the police clearance issued in Canada is valid for though. You can get any missing shot records now.

Hi,

You need to have a case number for the consulate you will be interviewing at before you can book your medical, so you can't do that at this point (that will be assigned after your NOA2).

By all means go ahead and make sure you have the correct birth certificate (long form, showing your parents' names) and things like that, but I wouldn't advise you to get your police certificate until you get your NOA2 because you don't want it to 'expire' before you actually need it. If you've lived in other countries before and need police certificates for those countries, then you'll need to find out how to get those and see how long they will take.

I ordered my police certificate very shortly after we got our NOA2 and even though the one they sent me originally was lost in the mail (I still hadn't received it 3 weeks later, when it was supposed to take 1 week) I still received it the new one in plenty of time. You might want to check how long these things take in Canada, though.

In the meantime you can gather up relationship evidence to have ready to present at your interview. Other than that there's not really much you can do at the moment!

Good luck :)

Not always true. Some of the panel doctors will require your case number and some will not.

OK, well that was the case when I was doing the K-1 last year in London. As far as I know that's still the case in London - not sure about other consulates though!

Just got our canadian police certificate today, its good for 6 months. Not sure what province you are in, but they were extremely slow! Oh, and don't go directly to the rcmp, they told us (after we paid them) there was a 6-10 month backlog. Good luck!

However, for consulate purpose it is good for one year

Toronto. We found an application online at the Toronto Police Department for a Canada wide police certificate. My fiancee had to travel there to get it, as it was not the same in Alberta when we called the police department, and of coarse he had to be there in person to pick it up! Frustrating, but we needed it quicker than rcmp was telling us we would get it from them. Not sure for BC, never checked since he had family back east, he made a visit out of it.
