hello everybody!

I hope my fiance in the US sent the K1 papers (I-129F) away today. I do not just sit around and wait now, but already do what we will have to do soon. Can anyone tell me what I could already prepare for the next steps (documents etc.)?

Cheers,

Ter

You won't need to do anything SOON, but you can start looking at the requirements for packet 3.... Start here.

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

First what I did is tryed to contact these who went though this process in my corner. (Austria in your case)

I founded some very kind and great persons, who shared their experience.

Gather papers you might need:

*Probably you can get police certification already. ( up to country)

*Maybe you can do some analyses already and of course, shots. Some of i did here is not needed there and vica versa, so i did hepatytis B.

*You need notarial certificed translation for your documents ( if they are not in english) and legalize them in your embassy (Apostelle stamp) For sure for birth certificate and education documents.

*Be sure your passport and drivers licence is valid for some time.

*Capture pics

*practicize forms

*be sure your mail box is safe, I opened special mail box for this

Find out how about police certificates in Austria, how long it takes to be issued and when it expires. My fiance was under the impression that they were only good for a month, so he waited until the last minute (almost until NOA2) to apply. It's been almost 2 months since he applied, and it still hasn't been issued. It really pushed everything back because we weren't able to ask for an interview until it was issued. OH and they're good for 6 months.

02-24-07 - NOA1 received

03-01-07 - Biometrics taken

05-14-07 - Misinfopass appt. COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME.

06-05-07 - I-131 e-filed

06-11-07 - AP NOA1

07-09-07 - Received weird looking letter for AP, but online status hasn't changed

From what I understand, don't bother with the police certificate until you have an interview date (the Embassy/Consulate will want a letter dated within the last 30 days).

Also, in my fiance's country other K1ers recommended waiting to get immunizations until right before the interview (that way all of the shots are on one record .... and opposed to a series of records).

But what you can do, from what I understand, is 1) start thinking about which financial records you will need for the interview, and 2) start organizing/scrapbooking your proof of an ongoing relationship (pictures from subsequent trips, phone bills/calling card receipts, emails, ring receipts (if applicable), etc.
