August 22nd is my interview date! My birthday is on September 19. What a nice birthday present that'll be. ^__^ It's 3 months from now but it's probably for the best since I started my current job in September '09 so that'll put my employment at a nice round two years and my fiance is going to summer school, so that'll be out of the way by the time I get there.

Congrats to everyone who's been approved! :)

Same here Teday. Congratulations. You wrote a nice detailed review. So that's helpful that the consular officer told you that the visas take about a week. Seems to be about the same time period that most are reporting here on VJ.

Finally, after long, stressful journey, I have my interview and medical booked. Although it's still a waiting game, a true test of one's patience, my interview is August 23rd. I just wanted to make a few notes for those filing in Montreal. Maybe the following series of events happened because they are trying to automate. I was told by a trustworthy VJ'er to send my Packet 3 here: US Consulate General IV unit, Post Office Box 65, Postal Station Desjardins,

Montréal, Québec H5B 1G1 - their new mailing address. After 2 1/2 weeks of it sitting there, not being logged while I watched countless others have their's logged, I decided to resend it to the supposed old address: Immigrant Visa Unit,

315 Place d'Youville Suite 500, Montreal Quebec, H2Y 0A4. I continued to call the DoS twice daily, thinking maybe my first packet would be logged. I got confirmation that they received my second one yet nothing logged after 6 days. I had called that morning to have a friendly voice (I spoke to many and only 2 are very friendly and helpful) tell me no news yet, nothing has been touched since they sent my Packet 3 in March. An hour later, I received my Packet 4 via email. This was totally unexpected. I'd never heard of anyone getting there P4 by email. In my P4, they requested I send 2 Passport pictures and a scan of the biographical information on my Passport, just like the Montreal site tells you to, but everywhere in these forums tell you to not send them, but take them to your interview. I was given instructions on how to send them via DHL, which I did promptly. And I'll be sure to get more made to have them with me as well for my interview.

So, as helpful as so many VJ'ers are, no one can account for the ways of the Consulate in Montreal. Maybe I'm in the new system now. Maybe they're changing how they do things. Whatever the reasons, I just wanted to give you all a heads up.

78 more sleeps!

So happy that you finally got your interview. At least you have a time frame now.!!

I was wondering if things were so messed up because they were switching to internet filing etc but that was guess work on my part. Seems like it would be far more efficient via cyber space ...who knows.......

I took copies of everything anyone every told me I needed to the interview , including photos.... I had way too much stuff but better over prepared than under I say :D

Best of luck to you. Hang in there. Not long now !!

My fiance had his interview this afternoon and it was a success! They told him 1-2 weeks before he will receive the visa. We originally wanted to book his flight to the USA for June 3, but now are worried he won't have received the visa by then. Anyone with experience?

I'll post a review later on, but one thing to note :

His interview was at 1:45. He got there at about 12pm, and the guard turned him away saying it was too early and told him to come back at 1:45. He went back at 1:25 and at that point there was already a lineup of about 20 people. So - it seems like if you have an afternoon interview, you need to get there when they start the 2nd shift of lineups. I'm guessing it would start at around 12:45 or 1pm, but can't be sure.

Happy75, have you received a waybill number yet from the consulate. They said about a week but , obviously a bit slower to my area anyway.
