hello all,

i have a question on affidavit of support....do i qualify? i'm worried about like they won't see my income adequate enough to support fiancee..

i make $40,000 a year and pay 24,000 for mortgage a year so that leaves $16,000..

$40,000 is before i pay anything..

is my income adequate enough?

thanks - pin

Yes they only count your ajusted gross income, and do not count expenses.

Look at the instructions for I-864 or I-134. http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/for...les/I-864EZ.pdf

Also

What stage are you in your time line? Between NOA1 and NOA2, AOS, Visa interview, Which service center are you dealing with NVC? Type of Visa K1, K3....

Please take the time and fill out your profile with things like Service center, consulate, and times items sent and received.

This helps us all with understanding your situation and what you are dealing with.

Your profile is incompleate.

I am curious how you qualified for a mortgage that consumes 60% of your income, highly irregular. Thought they did not exceed 40%.

Well, I guess the OP will need to pony up more information then. Rather extreme scenarios, don't you think?

Off the top of my head, I can think of 2 single parents I know of that have 5 kids each. It is not rare or extreme.

I am curious how you qualified for a mortgage that consumes 60% of your income, highly irregular. Thought they did not exceed 40%.

LOL WILLIAM. I'm in the mortgage/banking busuness and was wondering the same thing. Shoot me a PM pipoint maybe I can lower that rate for you. ;)

Don't worry you'll be fine. when I was going through the k-1 visa process w/ my then fiancé I was only 18, had just graduated from high school, was living at home and only worked one year beforehand securing had an income of $2,000! I had my parents fill out an affidavit as well, but they combined make only about $27,000 a year due to being self employed and even get government assistance. we had no problem what so ever when it came to the affidavits. I was absolutely sure there was no way my fiancé was going to get approved but it worked!

I sent a pm to pinpoint a while ago about more info. Not sure where he/she went.

Dean, is 40% accurate? I think that was the basis of my loan.
