My husband's visa (IR-1) is currenlty in administrative processing....so far it's been 4 months. He has a valid tourist visa and I was wondering if he can come to the US on that for a couple of months while we wait for the process to be completed.

Does anyone know if this is permissable?

Thanks :)

I see from your timeline that he had an interview back in 2009 and was in AP then and then was out of AP on 1/12/09 and visa approved 01/16/09 but wasn't issued as he couldn't leave in the 6 months that is required to exit the country. Why was he in AP then, and why now again?

Regarding your question, I have heard of Beneficiarys being allowed to enter the USA on a Tourist Visa as long as they show strong ties to their country BUT I have also heard the opposite and they had to turn around and go back! I don't see why if someone is in the process of an Immigrant Visa, why they would take a "chance" and stay in the US and abandon all of the hard work and money that has been put forth and why the "powers to be" doesn't take this into consideration!!! :bonk: Yet again, we are dealing with the Government here! :hehe:

Good Luck which ever road you may take!

Apologies if I state in a comment that my husband and I have been together for years & years. It's just that I can hardly remember a time when he and I were not together.

Thank you.

My husband is in the Venezuelan military and I believe that is the reason for AP both times-the Embassy will not tell as a specific reason so I'm just guessing. AP last time was completed in 90 days, not true this time....still waiting. I'm just trying to explore any option so he can spend some time with our 15 month old daughter, he is missing watching her grow up :(
