14 days wait for the paper

Hi if anyone could give me their advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Just today my fiancé was cleared at his interview (February 1, 2011).

He paid the fee to have the last piece of paper he needs to get on the plane to be sent DHL to Montego Bay from Kingston. They say it will take no more than 14 days but to NOT purchase your plane ticket until you have it in your hand.

My dilemma is just timing and it would be easiest if he could fly out by February 17 or 18th. Would it be completely stupid to assume it will arrive on time? If I wait until it arrives in hand then I will have to wait another two weeks for the best plane ticket price…..(I hope that the 14 days isn’t suppose to be business days)??????

Any advice from anyone?

Welcome

If he's awaiting his visa then there's a High chance he will get it sometime between Feb. 8-10. BUT hey it's best to wait UNTIL it's delivered/ready for pick up.

** It's unclear when you say he mailed a certain document from montego bay to kingston.. this is to be delivered at the embassy..? Did he get an approved case pending the receipt of a certain document that was sent on after feb. 1, 2011? IF yes then dont expect a visa to be ready super fast.

There have been many cases of people's visas not being ready when they were originally promised. It is always safer to have your visa in hand before booking a flight. Some have been approved and promised, but then later the visa was revoked. Make your plans such that you would be in control of the situation, and not such that you'd be expecting a miracle.

Well to be honest I guess I'm a little unsure of exactly the name...that is why I called it a document. He has his Jamaican passport/visa and we applied for the k-1 fiance visa. After his interview they told him to go pay the mail fee for DHL and it would take 14 days. I know another couple that it only took about ten days for it to be ready and picked up in Kingston but Adrian's will be DHL to Montego Bay.

Ok so it is his passport with the visa in it....whatever they put inside of his regular Jamaican passport. His interview was today Feb. 1st, they said yes and that it would be at the DHL center in 14 days. But you feel it could arrive as early as Feb 8-10th? ......I just don't want to wait for it to arrive and then wait another 14 days for the booking of the flight. :)
