Medical: Vaccination costs

Hi all,

So I'm preparing for my medical and had a question. I'm guessing most if not all of my vaccinations need updating and I don't want a costly bill from Medisys.

I contacted a travel clinic here in Mtl and for they can give me almost all vaccines free save for Hep A ($60), Hep B ($50) and Influenza ($25). I think the titre test is $60 as well.

Would it be cheaper doing this? Is there a way to see what the clinic (Medisys) would charge me for all of these?

Save, Hep A and B NOT needed for Canada...

Age 18 - 64 are required to have:

• MMR
• Td
• Variccella (AKA Chicken Pox)
• The FLU if in season

That is a strange one has HEP B for 18 and older, yet the CDC which determins requirements says 18 and under, and my wife did not need HEP B when immigrating 4 years ago, perhaps a typo on the site you quoted??

Hmm...I don't think so. It's directly from the Physician Panels for Toronto and Montreal http://www.panelphysicians.com/

It looks like the requirements were "updated" on their site in 2008.

Wont hurt, I got HEP B vaccinated for travel overseas my self.

I would get them done for free elsewhere, and bring the record to the medical for transfer to DS-3025, you are not required to get vaccinatons done by the panel physician, you can even get tested for immunity "Titer" tests and have that transferred to the DS-3025 by the panel physician.

I had the blood titre test done free....I went to my Dr and explained what I needed and she wrote the requisition and I went to the hospital and had them done. It took about 2 weeks for the results. I had the tetanus shot free at my Dr's office free of charge. I'm not sure about your province but the flu shot is offered free here, check into that. When the blood titre came back it said I was not immune to mumps so I needed the MMR shot. I went to the public health and had it for $20. Check into things with your own doctor first, it may be cheaper for you.

Vaccinations at Medisys cost 100 or more depending on which ones you need.

In 2009 my medical there was only 210$ CND. No vaccinations needed. I had all mine done for free from my regular doctor.

Trust me go to the travel clinic if you do not have a regular doctor, the prices for vaccinations if you need them is insane.

Edit--- You are charged for ALL vaccinations you need that are missing at the time of medical, does not matter if you can get them free from your personal doctor, the panel charges a very high price.
