Attorney? or just by ourselves??

Can anybody tell me the better & especially FAST way for the k-3 process?

- The couple deals with the spouse visa process "by themselves"?

- Or hire a specialized attorney?

Thanks for your opinions & suggestions.

NB : I hope to hear from US-Moroccan couples, too.

If you do any of the visas and you use this forum for help. There really isnt much need for you to get a lawyer. Im not sure how any lawyer can speed things up for you. My husband is from Morocco also but we did CR-1 cause of I-130 approval. Its up to you but you may want to research more before you decide.

an attorney cannot speed up the process for you.

If your case is simple and you don't have a special situation of any kind (e.g. criminal record, prior immigration marriages etc.)

you can easily do it by yourself and save yourself the money.

This site can provide you with all the info you need to file the petitions, fill out the forms, and if you need to confirm, you can always post a thread.

Good luck with the process

As what others have said, an attorney can't speed things up if your case is normal, as in no criminal records, just old plain bringing your spouse over, you most likely do not require a lawyer. We used one, as we had pretty busy lives, but in reality we did not need to use one, could have saved us $2500 usd!! Even if you use a lawyer, you STILL fill out all the forms!! They just gather them for you. So take your time, read over the stickys on VJ, ask all the questions you want here, and save your self money!! Use the search button and I'm sure you will find a lot of information. After reading the tons of info here, and you are still uncertain, interview lawyers and find a good one. like any other profession, there are great lawyers, and crappy ones. Ours was great, but worth $2500 usd, probably not!! All depends what you feel comfortable with. best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

If you petition isn't complex you should be able to do it yourself just by following the K-3 guide here on VJ. Good luck

You can go with a lawyer if you want but I did that and she actually ended up making things worse. For a lawyer who said they had so many years of experience they certainly filled all of the forms out wrong.. And gave wrong information and I had wasted my time cause I though she was right when she wasnt! But I only had her do one form luckily instead of all of them! This forum is a good help for anyone and its free unlike a lawyer.

lawyer is a waste of money unless you have a complicated case, the heck you can buy your spouse somehting nice for that money. I recommend flowers every 2 weeks with the money you save. lol. Of course the choice is up to you. its amazing how lawyers can screw up your case, even though you pay so much for it.
