Thanks rheanick! Well for me, I will always have "two" homes. My room in Manila will always be home too, just like my new place with my fiance is also going to be home :) You are lucky that money is not an issue for you, that is not the case for a lot of people. And yes, hopefully by 2015, we can get assigned in China again. My fiance is in foreign service and military so we will try to get assigned somewhere in Asia.

Money would be an issue if you make it an issue. You always need to prepare for emergencies. I have my own legal way to prepare for it. Hubby knows that i wont ask anything from him if my family needs any money. Even though i had no works for the last 2 years and business is not yet profitable, i have to use my brain to have my own money. Legally paying uncle sam for my US taxes. As i mentioned, money is not an issue when it comes to my family. You are an intelligent woman, you will find ways to ease your worries.

And your comment regarding "home", you are highly prone to homesickness. Just be watchful of your emotion. Just my two cents.

BTW, i did not say goodbye coz i know i will see them again. I'm just in the US, just a plane ride away.

Prone to homesickness- Lol ya think?

Saying goodbye/see you later/see you soon- its all the same to me, the point is being separated, i know i'll see them again.

And thanks for your input! I have a lot saved up and have great chances getting a job as a speech pathologist, hopefully I have a chance to go home a lot if grad school or work permits me. All the best!

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

I will always say,... I LEFT MY HEART IN THE PHILIPPINES! :crying:

This post just made me feel lonesome of my family.

My departure from the Philippines last 2009 was so painful and devastating. Simple because,a day before my flight, my grandfather who has raised me since the age of 7 was rushed to the hospital due to a heart attacked. Being a Lolo's girl, I blamed myself for the longest even few times recently for leaving, and not reassuring him how I love him so much. Now that he is not getting any better, all I can do is to provide him with medications he needs as a substitute for my distant love. I just miss him sorely.:(

I often tell myself, I'm tougher than I think but moving and leaving them (family, good paying-stable job, extraordinary friends) was so heart breaking.

Point here is that, there's always two ends in every bridge, You can't stay in both places. Choices are hard to make especially if the ones you love are involved in that big leap of faith. Leaving doesn't mean goodbye if you leave them in a good note. Goodbyes implies you didn't care for them so you want to leave everything behind. So I would suggest, spend as much quality time with your parents, do all the things that you love the most in our country while you can, coz I'm tellin you girl, You ain't doin nothin near of what we can do in Pinas once you are here in the US!

Go meet disconnected friends, and savor the feeling of Manila fever and all kinda stuff. If your parents are not so techy people, Set up the computer properly so you can talk to them anytime when you wanted. Most importantly, braise yourself to a total 360 degrees turning point of your life. Because you will not only be a wife, but also a new member of someone's family in a new setting, in a new country.

Cheers to a good future in the US and wherever you and Tim's heart desires!

I ignore the vast majority of your trolling posts, but the pretty gal in that video was worth a look.

The guy in the background is the son of the Ambassador to Italy and is on a full academic scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania in performing arts. He's doing a subtle courtship dance seen in the Middle Victorian Era, performed by the Nobility.

It's hard to interpret if you don't have that effite background.
