Bring your niece here? Unless you adopt her, I'm not aware of any way you or your wife to can help her immigrate here.

Yeah I'm currently working the adoption angle. Seems pretty tough in Thailand if one or more parents are alive.

No haven't done that. I did talk to some shyster lawyer here in Dallas. He suggested bringing the niece here on a B2, then adopting her here in Dallas county and then adjust her status. I'm pretty sure that's fraud.

Ok, finally found everybody. Been on here one year and have overlooked this forum. Thanks for the point in right direction Daboyz.

daboyz is da man, he's helped me a good bit. Glad ya found the thread.

But not as glad as I am over how well it's going now.

Family life is great (work aside). And the silly delay from the USCIS questioning her pre-1970 Thai birth certificate paid off. They drug it out past the 2 year marriage date and we have the 10 year card.

Hang tough all, it will happen!

7-16-08 POE arrival, 2 hours in Seattle Customs.

RFE 4-27-09 Thai official document in lieu of original Birth Certificate not sufficient???

Infopass appointment 5-26-09 at USCIS. Officer thought our doc was valid and doesn't know why the RFE.

7-28-09 EAD and AP sent

Social Security card 8-4-09

interview 9-10-09

10 year green card expires 9-17-19, Permanent Resident Card.

Resident since 9-10-09.

For marrying a Thai person, I heard in another thread about K-1 being easier. What is the easiest method? Also, I'm a girl, and he is the one who lives in Thailand. We are both still college students.

Second time they said we used an expired form, which was the form they gave us. Third time was "oh sorry we lost the last page, can you send it again?." Fourth time is the gov is shut down. Will this ever be corrected in time for Ice to get the permanent GC? Stay tuned to find out. T_T

K-1 is quicker, but when you get here you'll have to spend another $1010 to adjust status. Also, while waiting for adjustment of status the Thai person will not be able to work etc.

oxymoron! :whistle: i had a good for nothing lawyer too, i'm pretty convinced he is a waste of skin!

@niing...as daboyz said if your case is straightforward AND (BIG AND) you are detail oriented you could absolutely do it by yourself. i paid a lawyer but ended up being far more detail oriented than he and corrected enough of his work through the petition/visa process that i did the aos on my own for my now husband and will be submitting ROC petition on monday.
