My wife needs to get a copy of the CR1 visa so she can ship her things. She needs 3 months advanced notice to cancel the lease on her apartment. She has a place to go but no way to move her things. Seems like it takes about 3 months to schedule the interview, I'm wondering if I shouldn't tell her to hang onto the apartment for another month.

Just a note, I'm not sure if it's the same for other countries, but I know for Canada that one cannot ship their belongings until AFTER they cross the border and enter the US because shipping companies need proof that you entered the US by sending them a copy of the passport with the stamp showing what date you entered.

I think as long as she has the visa they will let it through. It's going by boat so probably she will get here first anyhow.

Yeah, call customs to make sure. Maybe even the company you're using to ship as well.

I don't think because of terrorism. The shipping company just wants to make sure you were able to successfully go through the border. Or perhaps to know you're actually IN the US. I'm not quite sure of the reason, I just remember seeing it mentioned on a thread in the Canada regional forum that you can only ship belongings AFTER you go through POE because you need to send them a copy of your stamp in your passport that you get at the border.

What about when you fly.. Can my wife bring some boxes that have her special cooking untensils etc. And other little knickknacks..

If she's bringing stuff with her, that's fine. It's just when you ship things, you first have to cross the border before a company can ship your belongings. At least in Canada anyways, I'm not certain about other countries.

When you say 'received', do you mean NVC just received it in the building and you know from tracking by a mail provider, or do you mean they inputted it into their system? If you mean the latter, then it's perfectly normal as it usually takes 2 weeks to input packages into the system once they receive it in the building.

NVC received IV documents on 16th march. I got a checklist for DS230. When I called, it says wait for 6 to 8 weeks. WHen do you think they will finish reviewing? thanks

Case Complete on March 29. Thank you guys for all the support. Now will wait for the interview schedule...

Grats! kicking.gif

Saylin I have a question.

Does the NVC will email me about the appointment letter? thanks

If you gave your email addresses to an operator, then yes, they'll email you the interview package once an interview date has been assigned.

If you sent in your IV package on March 16, then you should get a case complete 2 weeks after that date, so it could be at the end of this week or next week sometime, if no RFEs.

I just called NVC and the operator told me my expedite case has been accepted. It is so weird. It was rejected a week ago. I am now concerned if this will delay my interview day when my case is almost complete in NVC. I am kinda excited but not sure if I should worry. I am kinda clueless. I m praying God that it would be for good. Thanks everyone..
