Hi I am the beneficiary on a I129-f -K1 Visa, I may be jumping the gun on this but trying to be proactive here. We recently sent out our RFE Saturday Jan.22 to CSC and was wonderfing if anyone elso on here can tell me about the processing of the NOA-2,and what consulate I would most likely be dealing with when we get approved..(PRAY no further delays- 5 months apart is sooooo awful) . I have only seen consulate reviews for Montreal....has anyone been to the ottawa one? and how did it go...

If you live in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Yukon or the Northwest Territories; then your consulate will be Vancouver. Otherwise, you will go to Montreal.

April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)
April 29, 2011: Updated
May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

There is no "ottawa one"

The only place that K-1 interviews take place is Montreal or Vancouver.

The only place to have your medical is Montreal, Vancouver or Toronto.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Ryan H is correct, no visa interviews done in Ottawa. Only Montreal and Vancouver for the K-1 visa and ONLY montreal for the spousal visa

No there is no Ottawa. That is why there are no Ottawa reviews.

ONLY Montreal and Vancouver.

Medicals are only done in Montreal, Vancouver or Toronto.

There is a consulate in Ottawa, BUT they do not do any of the k1, K3 or cr-1/IR-1 interviews!!! Only two consulates in Canada handle them--- Vancouver (k1, and k3) and Montreal (k1, k3 and Cr-1//IR-1)

If on ur application you put down Ottawa, don't worry, it will get directed to the right Consulate (mtl or van) based on where u live in Canada. Manitoba and west goto Van. East of MB you goto Mtl.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

NVC does not process K-3 visas anymore.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
