Im a lil confused on the typed letter we attatch to our I-129f packet about how we met in the last 2 years. How much could I possibly say other than `` I went to brazil to be with my fiance last summer.´´ What more do they need? do we need a whole love story? are they really that nosey? any ideas?

I kept it pretty simple "we met at a wedding in Dublin Aug 2003" I also attatched a supplemental page to describe how he stayed with me here for a few months & that I went to see him several times over the past few years.

I think most people keep it short & sweet

My fiancee and I wrote 2 small letters describing very briefly how we met, in our own words. In that question on I-129F we wrote "Please see attached sheet(s)"

I did not append any extra sheets to my application.

I used the space provided on the form and wrote the following:

We met in <country, city> between <travel dates> and were together <days, weeks, months>. Please refer to supporting evidence attached.

Supporting evidence comprised of: passport exit/entry stamps; airline boarding passes; hotel reciepts; CC/ATM withdrawal reciepts.

I had no photos so hence I submitted none.

I just wrote a simple sentence in the space provided, something along the lines of, "We met while I was studying abroad in Cork in 2004" Didn't bother with any notes about evidence (although it was supplied, just not referenced in the answer we are discussing) and it was fine.

Thanks for the help guys. My fiance and I met online 4 years ago. I understand they only need to know about the last 2. Do i have to state how we met for the first time or just past meetings during the last 2 years even though we met long before that?Ive been in Brazil several times, for long periods of time. Do i have to state the beginning and ends of the trips ive made? or just when i touched down in brazil. My job allows me to be away for long periods of time. We have winters off. But does that look bad on paper? if i say i was here for 3 -4 months, yet need a co-sponsor to get married, does that make me look financialy irresponsible or something since they dont know my whole situation?

I added a supplemental page to the I-129 explaining how we met and submitted my boarding pass, complete copy of my passport, hotel receipts and pictures as proof.

I wouldn't worry at all about how your traveling makes you look financially to them. Either you have proof that you meet poverty level minimums, or you will use a co-sponsor. As long as someone signs a paper saying your fiance will not become a public burden you are all set. Good luck!

I have never seen so many lazy people together in one place. After all the work, documents, paperwork and other stuff. How hard can it be to put together 4 or 5 sentences without prying into your personal life. My question is if you really want your fiancée or fiancé here with you and you are without them around six months why not go the extra mile and attached a paper with 4 or 5 sentences. And I would not call this an extra mile but to be conservative in my sentence. I guess this make it easier for me and that is why all you guys get RFE’s. Wow, I hard can it be!

I agree that is why I wrote a paragraph on an additional page. I just mentioned trips I took over there-to coincide with my boarding passes, passport stamps.

I'll tell them whatever they want to know- I should have told them I caught the bouquet at the wedding where I met him, what the bride/groom danced to. How many beers we had, what they served for dinner, what we were wearing.......................I could go on & on

Hi Irishgirl,

A person with common sense, thank you very much. You think they where asking for a pint of blood, why it is so hard for people to write 4 or 5 sentence on a paper. For some reason people here on VJ hate to write a new “Letter of Intent’, when all they have to do is change the date printed and sign it. How hard can this letters be? But yet they can be all day surfing the internet, I do not get it. Maybe it is just me?

I will give them whatever they want-I may complain about being away from my man-but I won't complain about the paperwork associated with getting him here-never

i use the space provided too and just stated the where & when we met. of course, all the primary evidences were attached to the application. the question "describe the circumstances under which you met" is taken from the question of meeting within the last two years. if you answered yes, then the "circumstances" would be the when and where...not necessarily the how.

i see it this way...the less thing for them to read, the better. besides, if they really want a whole essay answer...they could at least be generous and give us more than just a line space...or maybe give us a TABLE to list...the how, when and where part...and maybe add a column on 'how did that make you feel"...i don't know. =/

just because we give them exactly what they asked for...it doesn't make us lazy.
