Will my income and co-sponsor be accepted?

I have filed an I-130 for my husband trying to obtain a CR1 visa. Currently I receive $36,000 through SSDI and my mother has agreed to be my husband's co-sponsor and she has been working for the IRS for the past 25 years. I am currently in school full time and will not be graduating until May of 2012. I am receiving SSDI because I am legally blind and I have recently received a liver transplant which took me from working. During my recovery I decided to return to school for my second masters degree. I have three dependent children ages 14, 16 and 18. My question is what is the likelihood of my I-184 to be accepted? I have been receiving SSDI for the past three years and have proof of that (no tax returns). If not what can I do? Thank you for your help in advance.

Grace and peace to you

No, I don't have to file taxes but I get a letter at the end of each year showing how much income I received for the year

Poverty for a family of 5 is 25,790 so you need 32,237 to qualify on your own. I would have your mother handy in case they want a joint sponsor. You might even be able to say the 18 year old is an adult and reduce your family to 4. ( Are the 2011 guides out yet ? )

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I-864 is reviewed at NVC, but they just check basic stuff, kick it back IIF there is massive issue - but

(this is a big but)

Final Adjudication of the I-864 occurs at the Embassy's IV Unit - so if this is of some concern to you (and I sense it is)

you'll need to prove up income/s clearly - suggest to add in a one page income summary document that YOU prepare on you AND yer mother.

Most NVC folksen look for taxable income, and you don't have any - so be prepared to WRITE about this, add explanations IN to a LETTER with the I-864, as well.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
