Can anyone give me a comprehensive list of all the fees (& possible extra fees) that are associated with the IR-1/CR-1 Visa process? I'm talking from the amount for mailing Forms to the government, to the actual fees of Forms ($420 for I-131,etc), to medical exams, to possible fees (if the alien spouse has to get vaccinations), etc. etc. etc.

I'd love to get a good feel for how much I'm in for before I start the process so that I won't be blindsided down the road.

Thanks in advance!

All of this information can be found with just a little research on these forums. You should try doing a search before asking questions. Just a helpful hint! :)

Fees are charged for the following services:

Filing an immigrant Petition for Alien Relative, Form I-130

Processing an immigrant visa application, Form DS-230

Reviewing an I-864, Affidavit of Support (for petitions filed in the United States)

Medical examination (costs vary from place to place)

Fingerprinting fees, if applicable

Other costs may include: translations; photocopying charges; fees for obtaining the documents you need for the immigrant visa application (such as passport, police certificates, birth certificates, etc.); and travel expenses to go to the embassy or consulate for the interview. Costs vary from country to country and case to case.

I-130 = $420

DS230 - $404

I-864 = $80

--------------------

Total = $904

If you live in Nicaragua the price for the medical will vary depending on what you need. In Nicaragua the embassy is in Managua, and the doctors they use can be found here http://travel.state.gov/pdf/medical/MNG-MED-SPAN-0001-0808.pdf

Call any one of those doctors to get pricing on how much it'll cost for the general medical. If you also need additional shots it'll cost more money. So if you can get the required immunizations before the actual medical you'll save money.

This should get you started in what you need and what you need to do.

Hope the best for you!

Fees have changed as of November 23, 2010 and can be found on the USCIS webpage, http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis - link to the left under the Customer Tools Before I File section. Sorry I don't have any info on extra fees.

Thank you for the info! I actually have researched quite a bit on here and knew from the VJ Guide that the big chunk of fees for the forms would be around $950. The real motive behind my question was to see if anyone came to the realization of how much the "little fees" here and there start adding up such as photocopying, translations, mailing & remailing evidence to the government, etc. From what I've gathered, it adds up fast!!

I went to Dr. Rolando Esparza and the medical was a flat fee of $185.00 and if you need to Fedex any documents it costs about $41.00

Thanks for the tip! I apologize in advance for the million questions, but it just happens...especially when you know alot about the process with Nicaragua!! :)

Was the medical exam pretty thorough? What vaccinations did you have to have before going? Was the exam pretty easy??

Do you mean it costs $41.00 to Fedex your Forms to the government from inside the U.S.? Or from Nicaragua?? Or do you mean to ship something to Nicaragua? I found that Express Mail International with USPS was pretty cheap sending stuff to Nicaragua. I sent an envelope with my birth certificate last Thursday (Jan. 13) and it was delivered to my husband's house this morning (Jan. 19) and I paid $27.55.

No problem with the questions, I was doing the same thing with other nica petitioners while I was still in the process.

The medical exam is not that thorough. I went to the doctor's office and they sent me to 2 other places, one for the X-ray and the other for the blood test. They give you the results right then and there, so you take that back to the doctor's office and see the actual doctor. He just took my blood pressure, made general questions about my health. I brought my vaccination record, but he said most of those where given to me when I was young, so he gave me a shot which I think was some sort of cocktail shot that included 2 or more vaccines. Then again, I don't think it made a difference on how much I paid, because I am pretty sure the fee is flat, if you want to be sure though maybe you can ask your husband to call the doctor's office and inquire.

About Fedex, I just meant that's the cost to send documents (any documents) from Nicaragua to the US. That's what we used because we wanted to make sure it would get delivered in 2 business days. Thanks for the tip on USPS, now I know if I want to send my family any documents I can send it via USPS.
