I'm totally new to this and i'm doing it all by myself. I don't know how others do it so i wanted information.

1. does age play a big part of whether they accept the visa or not?

2. I was notified through email about a paper that i was going to get sent to 'request for evidence'. when i sent my petition i asked my mom whether i should send evidence(my mom is always points me in the right direction), she said they'll ask for it if they need it and ofcourse i knew they would. I only have maybe two pictures (both of us together) from the last time i went. i have my passport that shows both years i went. i also have a whole bunch of receipts from the times we've talked starting about two years ago. i dont know what evidence they'll ask for but will this be enough? What evidence were you guys asked for?

3. Do they ALWAYS require an interview? if so, did you get nervous? how much was the interview and where was it at?

4. Aside from flights, what other stuff did you have to pay for? no prices since i'm guessing that for every country its different

5. Between the time that they ask you for evidence and the interview, is there a big gap or is it quick?

Anything that would be of help would be GREATLY appreciated!

My petition was filed July 2010. The status on my petition changed January 13 2011.

Everyone has an interview, there is no visa without the interview..

K-1 processing fee

medical fee + any shots that the person is missing

visa fee

flight fee

Marriage license fee

AOS fee 1070$ after marriage.

ROC fee ( later on )

There are TONS of fees and things to pay for.

Your doing the DR so you are going to need a lot of evidence because of fraud.

Im guessing you have not seen the step by step guide that lists things you need to include and such. http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide go to the link its very helpful.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

1. If the age of the petitioner and beneficiary are not close it may look suspicious (but age prejudice is something that I know little about, so I would read some other threads here about it).

2. Once you get your Request for Evidence "RFE", they will tell you what they need from you. Check the "K1 Guide" on this website so you don't miss anything important. Remember you must prove you have a relationship with the person and that you intend on moving them here for marriage. You will need pictures, emails, letters, passport stamps, hotel/vacation receipts, phone records, messaging records, etc.

3. There is always an interview and it is very important that both of you are there. If not, its almost an instant denial of your case. The interview in Santo Domingo is very difficult, so make sure you prepare yourself and have all of your evidence you need. You should have sent "copies" of your evidence with the I-129f. So you can make more copies and have the originals for the interview in case they ask. Make sure you go to the Interview Review section here http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Dominican+Rep&cty=&dfilter=5

There is nothing to be nervous about if you are a real couple and you are organized, just show them what they want to see and answer every questions truthfully. But the environment can make you a little uneasy.

4. Again, check the K1 Guide. http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1tips

5. Check the K1 Flowchart; USCIS Processing Times

http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do

But average of 6 months to complete K1. Check other members timelines here to get an estimate.

Also for future reference, check these pages as well.

Well thank you! it definetely helped alot and showed me ALOT of stuff i didn't know :D

I'm just a complete

<--- newbie

We were all newbies at one stage but just read carefully and follow all instructions. When you get your RFE it will have in it what they exactly need. Just read it carefully and collect all that they want ok. Get it together as soon as you can so you can send it back pronto. The quicker you are returning your evidence the quicker your petition will proceed
