Hello to All

Ana and I are new to this forum and very excited to have found it. We are glad to meet you all and it is good to find other people with the same worries and concerns that we have.

We filed our K1 petition and it was received on Sept 14 and in checking the USCIS status of our visa it has not been touched since 9/23/10. We submitted the I29F to the CSC office. Is there a way that I can contact this office to ask what is happening with our visa?

We thank you for any help you can give us on this matter.

Regards

Chris and Ana

Not your visa but your petition... If you do call them they are unable to help you much beyond what you see online... 5 - 6 months is quite typical now

YMMV

If possible, could you fill in a timeline so that we have better data on petitions?

Also I see alot of people posting what is happening with their petition saying it was touched. I signed up with an account on the USCIS website and I can see when my petition was handled but how do I view these "Touch" items.

If you can see it is being handled then that means it has been touched. If it shows a different date from the last time you looked then it has been touched.

Where do you see when your case is "touched" on the USCIS website? I signed up for it too, but all I can see is the "Initial Review" status and there is a standard description of what happens in this process, but nothing specific to OUR case. I can see the trends and that the average is 5 months in the CSC, but I don't know where to find info about my specific case.

Our NOA1 date is Nov 12, so I know we have a while to go...

Thanks! I had already done that I was just wondering where exactly to look for the touch... I'll just keep checking in there. I activated the email updates option too, so now I suppose all that's left to do is wait!

Yes all you can do is wait but the touch means just that if the date changes it has been touched k

Welcome to VJ!

I filed in late August and my petition only and last touch was on 09/01/2010. I am quickly approaching the 5 month mark (which is the estimated processing time for K1 visa petitions). So, you are definitely not the only one waiting! You can try to contact USCIS after the 5 month mark has been reached, but it is quite typical nowadays for petitions to be adjudicated in 5-6 months. Also, by reading other members' experiences, it does not seem as though calling USCIS is helpful in getting the petition adjudicated any sooner. Many people have been told to wait some more...

Best wishes!

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.
