Hi All,

Its been a while i posted a topic on this forum but I'll like you to help and I need information on what to do and how to go about it. My interview date had been fixed and i need to prepare well for the interview so as not to be turned down by the CO or delayed.

However, I'm 5months pregnant for my hubby and i want to be sure of what to expect at the interview. What documents do i need to present at the embassy to back up my claim such as antenatal, preg.test results and so on but i dont know much about this. Besides, do i need to go to a recognized hospital for those documents or i can go to any private hospital.

I'll really appreciate any good information. Thanks.

Please read the interview preparation guide:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3731.html

Information specific to your consulate here:

Interview Reviews(Nigeria):

Any kind of medical evidence has to come from the consulate approved physician. When you go for your medical exam your pregnancy will not go unnoticed! Or you can let the doctor know you are pregnant and you want to be sure he will indicate that in the report.

You are the female and beneficiary in the relationship? I think so, but I am not sure. It would be best to check the regional forums and look under the Lagos embassy reviews for specific information and interview details. From other members I have gotten the impression that the Lagos consulate is considered a difficult consulate so you want to make sure you can be as prepared as possible. Talk to other VJ members who have already been approved and had their interviews at Lagos. Also, make sure to read and comply with the instructions of the consulate package.

Best wishes!

Lagos concentrates on communication records especially phone records. You need to show that you have a continued relationship. As for as they are concerned the baby is little more that a growth. It isn't proof of anything. It may seem a bit cold but that is how it is. If you draw the Asian lady don't be shocked if she questions the paternity of your child. The important thing in Lagos is no NOT lose your cool. They may ask the silliest things and expect you to know them. The worse thing at Lagos is to answer I don't know. And they push for you to use those words. They may ask the dogs name, his home town, his school name , the mothers name, his bosses name, the name on the tag on his undies. ( ok maybe not that extreme ) About 30 % of Lagos people end up in AP and there isn't a lot you can do to stop that although it seems to be fairly short with woman. Make sure you have your support documents in order and that you have the tax returns from this past year not just 2009 so they don't hold you up for " current year"

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

itemize your document in the format of international and local as to know where to pick your defense.

your pregnancy will give you the needed luck by HIS GRACE but get all the required document ready

photographs,3 years tax return, original wedding and birth certificates, air tickets, call logs, emails, chart records, wedding album, wedding invitation card, western union records, family picture with his siblings and yours and ready to mention their names if posible etc.

nigeriaorburst mentioned you may be asked silly questions which is true but you have to be prepare for it and the trick is they dont know most of the things they ask but you response to their silly question is a plus to you for example.

QUESTION. WHAT DOES YOUR HUSBAND LIKE DOING AFTER WORK.

ANSWER. YOU NEED A SHARP RESPONSE TO THAT RATHER THAN I DONT KNOW.

YOU MAY JUST CHUCKLE AND ANSWER.

I WISH YOU BEST OF LUCK

i was 8months pregnant when i went for my K1 interview in 2009. the only question i was asked in relation to the pregnancy was 'my due date', when my husband visited and how long he stayed. Bear in mind that during my medical examination, the doc. asked me when i last saw my period, and i am sure the doc calculated my due date and wrote it in the medical report. So, please be as honest as possible.

In any case, i was not granted the visa, due to 1)some alteration on my birth certificate, and 2)the CO concluded that because we had done our traditional marriage, my husband should be filing a CR1(not a K1).

Make sure you have enough pictures(before wedding, wedding pictures, after wedding picture, pictures with your inlaws, phone records especially for the time before wedding, e-mails for throughout the duration of your relationship, and focus on the e-mails were you both were discussing the pregnancy). And above all, pray, pray, pray.

Do not forget copies of all the Western Union he used to send you money. If the CO is not convinced with the proofs you present at the interview, they will intentionally put you on AP(with some flimsy excuse) while they wait for you to have the baby before re-inviting you for interview. I wish us all the best and God's favour!

You need plane tickets as proof that your husband was in town the month you got pregnant.

You need your ante-natal records+scan to show how far along the pregnancy is+ a letter from your doctor confirming your pregnancy due date and that you attend ante-natal at his clinic(it does not have to be a particular clinic). Also go along with your ante-natal card.

Please go with anything you can think of. Do not make the mistake of thinking that once you tell them you are pregnant for your husband, they will approve you......go with everything! i know how hard it is to carry a pregnancy and have a baby without your husband's presence. I went through it....and am still going through it. It is well with you in Jesus Name.
