Hi Everybody

So, i am a US citizin, applied for I -130 for my husband in India. I got the NOA2, and then today got through an NVC agent via phone and got the case number. She said there is nothing I can do in the meantime till i get correspondance from them. I have given them my email which she said would make the process a little more faster.

1. In the meantime, is there anything else I can do in terms of gathering documents etc. while we are waiting ?

2. I noticed on the NVC page that my husband would require police certificate from each place he stayed in for more than 6 months after the age of 16. Does he require it from all places he lived in India or just the current place? If he requires it from all places, it would mean he has to travel to Chennai, Kerala and Manipal. Please let me know.

3. My husband is visiting me end of this month in the US. Is there any paper work he can bring with him, so that we dont spend time mailing each other?

All your help is appreciated!!

Thanks so much!!

Read through these guides to familiarize yourself with the NVC process. Do not wait for any snail mail form NVC, that will slow you down considerably. All forms can be downloaded and filled in. Payment can also be done online. The guides will explain all of this. Good luck.

So per the EZ guide above,

NVC Steps

Be proactive with NVC to speed up the things, rather than reactive!

1) After receiving the case from the USCIS, NVC assigns a case# (NVC Case#)

2) Call NVC at 603-334-0700 to get NVC Case#, to provide both the petitioner and beneficiary email ids and to get IIN (Invoice Identification Number)

3) Email DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) by the beneficiary to NVCINQUIRY@state.gov making the U.S petitioner as the agent (Email format: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form)

so what im conused about is in step 3 stated above, how does one get the DS-3032. Is that emailed by the NVC to both the petitiner (myself) and beneficiary (husband). Or can my husband just download the form in the link above, and email the NVC?

I have the NVC case number and IIN number to be able to make the first payment for 88 dollars. I understand that the DS 3032 needs to be accepted by the NVC before the next payment can be made for 400 sth dollars. So please advise on how to proceed with the DS-3032. Thanks!

if you clicked the link for the wiki entry on the emailed DS-3032 -

you should have gleaned that

this is solely an ascii-text email without any file attachment.

THERE IS A PDF VERSION of the DS-3032 - don't use it, when sending off the DS-3032 FORM DATA via email, using the template referenced in the linked wiki page.

The 'standard' is for the foreign spouse to send in that email.

GOOD LUCK!

As always Darnell we appreciate your wealth of knowledge ;) so even tho the NVC center said my spouse should send the PDF file of DS 3032 signed etc... we can still use this template instead formatting it with our case numbers etc and simply send an email? does the content need to be in word document format or simply the body of the email...

thanks! and we got our case numbers this am so now even though ive been reading like a college student all my info just flew out my head... :P

Yes, definitely do not wait for any paperwork from NVC! You don't need anything that they mail to get your forms/documents processed.

Make sure you OPTIN right away if you intend to do electronic processing.

Ive already paid my AOS fee, but cant send in documents because they seem to have a huge delay for OPTIN requests.

Unfortunately all we can do is pay the fees online and send the DS 3032 online via email...that's all..pakistan wont let you do the documents :(

thanks everyone
