Easiest was would just travel to Canada on her Greencard and expired CDn passport and do it from there. Keeping in mind--the passport people are very picky about the quality of the passport photos!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I agree. I'd travel with my expired passport and GC also. Sorry to hear about your Dad, Raphael. (F)

I think the new guarantor rules make it harder for us Canadians living in the US ...how many of us know a Canadian living in the US that we could use as a guarantor??

I got yelled at and accused of fraudulent activity  by the male CBSA officer at my NEXUS interview for not having a passport in my married name. Thankfully, the female CBP officer came to my rescue as she understood and explained the difficult of being a woman and name changes. (Bless you, female CBP officer.) But my point is..... if you have lived somewhere less than two years so haven't established any relationships with those on the accepted list, and if you don't know anyone in those occupations, how are you supposed to get a guarantor?

On a side note, who decided those occupations were the only ones suited to be a guarantor? Like, a pharmacist? A Chiropractor? What makes they anymore trustworthy than you and I? I find it weird.

We're all in a catch-22 situation. They want a medical professional to endorse us but we can't "use" the healthcare system to get a signature because we are no longer residents.
