I'm so scared we will get our petition back right now as I abbreviated for "State or Province" in Part B, Question 15 :( If this whole process is pushed back, worst case scenario into February, our plans for our wedding are pretty much shot. Oh boy...sorry, just needed to vent. *sigh*

I really hope that's not the case for you guys.

Mostly, all you can do is wait and see.

It looks like it's taking about two weeks for them to send the packet back.

What you can do is just know what your mistake was, and be ready to fix it and turn it back around in the mail as soon as you get a hold of it.

Thank you, I'll take that hug

Yeah, two weeks wouldn't be too bad, still kicking myself though.

So if we get it back, do I fix that mistake on p.2 of I-129F, print it out and put it with the original packet again? Can I sent all the other forms and papers back in again?

A bit confused here!!!

I have noticed some of you have said that the date we received our text/email is NOT the NOA1 date. Also, that we do not update our timeline with these dates as the NOA1. Others have said that the letter they received via email saying ACCEPTANCE CONFIRMAITON WITH A CASE NUMBER is in fact the NOA1 and the date on the letter is the NOA1 date. I received both a text and email on the same day. Text stating that Official Notice to follow in mail and email stating alittle more that our petition has been routed to CSC for processing. This is not the same day the petition arrived at the Texas Lockbox see below:

01-10-11 Sent I-129F

01-12-11 Packet signed for at 10:30am by Cates (UPS web site)

01-18-11 Text message and email received stating Official Notice to follow in mail 7-10 days and Petition routed to CSC

I would look on the USCIS site but the letter said to wait till receiving the Official Notice to do so. Also, when I attempted to try anyway the site is unavailable from 01-18-11 to 01-19-11 8:30am (but I will not be able to check after that time).

If anyone could clearify this for me I would greatly appreciate it. :star: Otherwise, I guess I could just wait a few more days to see what I get from snail mail.

Thank You to anyone who can help me understand this better.

Jen :)

The Date on the official US I-797 notice (NOA1) will say "Date of Notice" on the upper right hand corner. That's the date you're in the USCIS system. Our text message/ email messge was few days AFTER our official date on the document. See our timeline on profile.

This is wrong, as far as I'm aware.

The 'Notice Date' is just the date the notice was generated.

The 'Receipt Date' is the date that they received the application and is your priority date in the system.

Your timeline here on VJ should be based on the 'Receipt Date' (thus the little note after the date saying 'receipt').

good luck! I abbreviated my city and state in the employment part. I've seen where some people have used abbreviations and no problems, and then others have and had problems.

I really hope you don't!!!! Your wedding date (from the other thread) is only a day after mine! Let's hope we both make it. Hang in there. xo.

Nothing to add  We sent one copy in, one for my fiancé and one I took back to Germany when I left the U.S. a few days before he filed.

All agreed on the documents (make sure the Intent to Marry have the original signatures --- not a copy)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... you are wrong. I have my US Official I-797C, NOTICE OF ACTION in my hand to double check.

The NOTICE DATE: is the date you are in the system (The box in the upper right hand corner) Ours is Dec 2, 2010

The NOTICE TYPE : is a Receipt! THERE IS NO DATE IN THIS BOX & you do not go by the email or the text; that is not the US I-797C official doc. This is only the notification.

The RECEIVED DATE: is the day the USCIS got it in their hands and signed for it. Ours is Dec 1, 2010

You need to look at your official document and check the facts before you publish or you might confuse somebody.

Ooohh. She's right, ya know. When you are filling out your VJ Timeline the little info blurb gives an (albeit outdated) screen shot of NOA1 and advises you use the Notice Date to fill out your timeline. I checked it like 10 times because I'm OCD and all perfectionist like.

You abbreviated and they understood because you're from the states. She abbreviated an abroad adress. But lets hope she doesnt get rejected!

Not sure if it got accepted yet, toots. Time will tell ;)
