Hello I need help on form 1099.I am working as an independent contractor and my employer did not give me the form 1099. My interview is Jan 30 and I have no time to wait for my employer comeback from vacation. So I decided to report my income to IRS anyway.I worked around $15000 in year and I also own a house which I get $12000 rent each year. So I do not know how to deal with this form 1099.Should I just report my income anyway and take the tax return with me during the interview or what should I do?

Your interview or your Alien Fiance's interview?

Since you are not yet required to have 2010 taxes filed they shouldn't be needed for the interview.

BTW, might help if you filled-in your profile because the questions you ask can have differing answers depending on the Embassy where the interview will be.

Hi! I was trying to help you doing some research on the past posts, some people asked about it before so take a look at these links because they may help you:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/244680-i-864-affidavit-of-support/

From what I've learned you may or may not need the 1099, but about the tax return you DO NEED them to complement your I-134 information on your interview day anyway! Good luck with your process! :)

I think you still don't quite understand how these tax forms work.

You don't fill out your own 1099. The person or company that hired you as an independent contractor is required to fill it out and send it to you. Like I said in your other thread, they are required to send it by the end of January, and they are ALSO required to file a copy of the 1099 with the IRS.

You are required to declare your income, even if you don't receive a 1099. Figure out how much you were paid and enter it on a Schedule C, along with any legitimate expenses you paid. Your final profit or loss is carried over to the 1040. If you're confused about how this works then I suggest you consult with a tax accountant.

Further, if own a rental home, the full rent is not "income". You need a tax preparer to guide you on these issues.

how about parts of the rent, does it counts as income? for example if my taxes show $10000 income for rent and $12000 income from my job is that good?

Then important number will be found on line 22 of the 1040 form.
