Hi all. Me & Clara have been preparing our petition cautiously for over a month, and submitted it july 21st.

We got our NOA1 8th of August and are like the many of you, waiting for NOA2.

We are not in such a hurry as most couples here, because we plan this paperwork ahead of time. Our desired marriage period is april next year. We arrived at this date considering a late scenario of 9 months for approval, and an average scenario of 6 months like advertised everywhere on the web back in june.

Now I am thinking, should i start worrying for an estimated april date considering all the CSC mess seemingly going on?

The thing is, we are planning a big wedding with 300 guests, I am bringing 20 people across the atlantic to be at the wedding and we need to make hotel reservations etc. Its a big organisation. But the way the petition system is set up it seems almost impossible to get all of this planned in time.

If our late scenario would get in trouble this could mean severe financial loss to reservation fees, and we'd have to delay the wedding to the autumn of next year. But im fairly sure beiing apart will get really hard for us by then. On the other hand, we both have great jobs in our own country. I'm an IT professional and she's Bachelor working as an accountant for a petrol company .... more time home means we can save more money. But we dont really need that extra money. I have my savings, and with the earnings between now and next year april I can pay my share of the wedding and move costs.

Anyways, heres a picture of us:

Welcome to VJ!!! Nice pic. This site is very informative and you will find all the answers to any questions you might have. We all are good at helping each other here. This is truly a great site. And the best advice i could give you is I would plan on a weddng date just yet if you can hold out. You will see your plans could change in a second when you are dealing with the governement. I was going to plan a wedding but we just decided to wait until after his interview to see when he is approved exactly, then go from there becuase you never know when a process might hold you up and you have delays. Good luck with your process i wish you and your fiance a speedy journey.

Nice picture! :) Like aj said, it's best to not set any dates for your wedding. You'll find many cases of VJers who've had to postpone or call off their weddings. You never know how long it'll take for an approval...

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

Welcome to the virutal waiting room. Like the others, I would recommend waiting a while before putting down deposits for anything wedding-related. Better safe than sorry. In the meantime, you've found a lot of really supportive people here. Congratulations on getting your NOA1. It's a start! :)

P.S. You two make a really lovely couple!

January 2004: Met Laurent at the Bibliothèque nationale in Paris

February 2004: We became an actual couple

January 29th, 2006: I left France to return to the United States--AWFUL to say goodbye!

June 2006: Finally convinced Laurent that a K-1 visa would be more time-effective than trying to get an H-1

August 1st, 2006: The K-1 petition is finally in the mail and on its way to Nebraska...WooHoooo!! And yes, I remembered to attach the check! :-)

August 3rd, 2006: USPS online tracking shows that my petition (sent certified) was received at the NSC at 5:05am

August 14th, 2006: NOA1 received USPS!! (I-129F recv'd at CSC: 8/4; NOA date: 8/10; last touched: 8/11)

October 2nd, 2006: I MISTAKENLY thought we had an approval...False alarm...Back to waiting...

October 3rd, 2006: TOUCHED!!

October 4th, 2006: REALLY AND TRULY APPROVED!!! Email notification lists 10/3 as the NOA2 date.

Later that same day: TOUCHED...AGAIN! Hope that means I'm in a cozy box and moving to NVC this week...

October 10th, 2006: Received official NOA2 via snail mail.

October 19th, 2006: Case received at NVC!! AWESOME!!

October 20th, 2006: Case forwarded to Paris!! DHL says two shipments were headed that way. Must be in there somewhere...

October 27th, 2006: Received official receipt letter from NVC via USPS.

Congrats on filing and welcome to VJ.

Just know the latest you can wait to get your deposits back and then worry about how fast/slow things are progressing then. Many people have a simple civil service within the 90 days to satisfy the terms of the visa and then plan a bigger shindig later.

Welcome to VJ :) You sound very sensible and prepared. It's hard to give a projected date of course, so for most of us, we've had to refrain from setting a date simply because one can't say for sure when the interview will be. Our petition took about 7 months from the date it was mailed to the day he flew home to me for good. When we knew the date of his interview then we set a date for the wedding, however we did a lot of the preliminary wedding planning beforehand...things that didn't require a deposit or fees.

Best wishes for you and your lovely fiancée! :star:

Welcome aboard and congrats to you both ! God bless and good luck .

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
