As long as they want. Some peoples never get put into the online system some do then never get any updates. Just wait and check again in a few days or so.

Our NOA1 was dated Oct. 21, 2010. We've been checking the status online and it says that it could not be found. 6 weeks later, still the same thing. My fiance called USCIS numerous times. It's been 2 1/2 months now and it's still not in the system. We received an email stating that our file cannot be located. My fiance called USCIS again and again and again.. And then the last email said that we should hear from them in the next 30 days... It's frustrating to be left in the dark, no idea what's going on with the petition... Hope we'll find out soon...

I was worried about that too. Alot of people have had situations where they get all the way to being approved for the visa, and still had nothing appear on the website. I hope that's not the case for us, but only time will tell. Our NOA1 is dated 12/17 and every time I check our status it comes back:

"Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283."
